Need Opinions on 12X12 paper storage-Container Store Bins
Please take a look at the pictures in post #40 of this thread and let me know your thoughts/experiences. My biggest concern is that the container doesn't go all the way up past 12 inches on one side like the Cropper Hopper containers. For anyone using these, has your paper become warped or curved in any way from not having support all the way up the container?
These containers are from the Container Store (link in the post doesn't seem to be working properly to take you directly to the picture/item on their website). The largest size, which looks to be roughly the size of three of the 12X12 Cropper Hopper paper holders, is on sale for $3.99. This is quite economical considering the cheapest I've found one of the Cropper Hopper styles is around $4.99 after using a coupon at Michaels, Joann's, or AC Moore.
Here's a link directly to the product from the Container Store:
After looking at them...I'm going to buy three and see what happens. I'm tired of not being able to see what I need at a glance for my 12 by 12 dp paper.

That's where I'm leaning too. It will be an hour's plus drive for me to get to the location in Natick when I take my daughter back down to school this coming weekend.

Well, I went and bought five of these containers. I think they're going to work just fine and as long as they're nice and full, the paper shouldn't warp. I'm very pleased with my purchases. It was worth the extra hour's drive to Natick, MA to get them. We tried to get into the Cheesecake Factory to give it a try but the parking at that mall was absolutely insane and the line-up to get in the restaurant was over an hour long at 4 pm in the afternoon!

These look really great! I think I'm going to order a few and do away with my jet max cubes! I also like that they have handles and it will be easy to take with you!

I'm told they go on sale fairly often. I got them for $1 off the regular price. Now that I've been using them for a few weeks, I'd have to say the best thing about them is that they're not tippy when I haul them out on my work area to sort and pick out paper to use. I bought the largest size so the smaller widths might not have the same result. My Cropper Hopper ones would regularly fall over when I would put them on my workspace unless I braced it up against something else on the table. The handle holes are very convenient as well!

I like those containers. Our closest store is 2 hours but if I ever get there I will certaily look for them. Think I'll check out the office supply store for something similar.
I like the looks of these bins! I wish i would have seen these before buying all my Cropper Hoppers, which do seem to be tippy. They look like they are fairly strudy, i might have to place an order and buy a few. I can always find something to put in them.

I've got 6 cropper hoppers and I've moved my scraps by color into them now that all my paper has been divided between three of these large bins. The other good thing about these bins is that they nest inside each other when empty, not that mine will be empty anytime soon LOL!

I looked at having them shipped to Canada but the shipping was more than the actual order!

Just an update, that I did get some of these last year and I'm pleased with how my paper is holding up in them. I liked them so much that this time around, I used the XL size for storing my stamps on 8.5X11 EZmount stamping storage sheets inside of page protectors (instead of binders). I like having them in the open so I can flip through my stamps. I'll post a picture later if anyone is interested.

And here's the Medium bin with nesties stored in it. These will stand upright when I add a few more to my collection (well for now, I'll put a block of wood in the back to use as a spacer until money falls from the sky LOL):
I've had someone ask me if the page protectors I'm using are archival quality. And if not, is is safe to have the rubber touching the plastic of the page protector? My page protectors happen to be acid free and archival quality but that would apply to storing paper in them as opposed to rubber or acrylic stamps. Does anyone know the answer as to whether the rubber can be affected by non-archival quality paper protectors? In reality, I'm not even confident that the EZ Mount foam on the rubber stamps would be archival quality.

Another unexpected good use for the XL size container is that they fit into the oversized fabric grocery bags that our local supermarket sells for $1 each. I've been putting one inside the grocery bag and using it to transport my craft supplies when I go to cardmaking classes/crops or to a friend's house to craft. My Martha Stewart scoreboard and Fiscars cutter fit inside perfectly and the solid plastic protects paper from getting bent. Having the straps from the grocery bag for carrying makes it very convenient.
I can't wait until my next trip to Natick, MA to add a few more to my collection.

For my 12x12 paper packs, I used to just stack them one on top of another on a dining room chair... the pile gets so high, its hard to get to the layers below, so I bought a 'leaning shelf' like this one at amazon:
I wish I did this years ago, as my paper storage not only looks better but is more easily accessed... and in the space of a simple dining room chair, I can fit so much more. Initially I thought maybe this thing would be flimsy, but as I assembled it, I knew it would be sturdy enough for all my paper packs. I love it!
I used floating shelves from Home Depot for my (smaller) dies, too.
I'm into the storage groove!
Picked up six of the medium bins and am in process of getting my stamps on laminate and into page protectors. Two of these bins fit into one cube in my closetmaid 6 cube unit. They were on sale as The Container Store is having an office storage sale.., whoot !!!

well shoot - i was just at the container store today - wish i had seen this thread first because I would have picked up a few! I am finding so many great things there as I move into my new stamp room. I think I'll have to pick up some of these when I go back.

They would fit perfectly in the IKEA Expedit cube shelving units as well.

Has anyone tried or had any experience with the Iris File and Stack boxes from Office Max. I saw their flyer this morning, and they are on sale. Does not give dimensions, just say 83.7 quart box. Thought i would post here before running over on a wild goose chase.Thank you.
I use the 12x12 White Fake Wood Cubes made by JetMax (I think they now have Recollections in the Title instead) which can be purchased at Michaels as well as the 12 x 12 File Folders. I used to use the 12x12 Paper Holders that SU used to sell, which worked much like what the OP was talking about, but I like the File Cubes much better. HTH :-) LM

These look like what I used a few years ago, and they fit 8 1/2 x 11, but not 12x12. Here is a link to the details where it gives the dimensions: Iris File-N-Stack File Box, 2-pack

Looks like they are not tall enough for 12x12.
These are not the ones in the flyer, one of the ones in the flyer had the hangers in it. Guess the best thing is to go check it out and maybe take an actual piece of paper.

Frustrating when they don't give the dimensions! I think you are right - you might just have to go check them out in person. good luck!
