NY Stampers Get Together
Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Christ Church 10 Henry Street Binghamton NY
Do join us at our next New York Stampin' Get Together -- a full day of stamping fun!
Cost – $20.00 per person. Your registration must be paid no later than 5 pm on February 6. Mail your registration form and payment to me (info is in the registration form). There are no refunds, but you may offer your spot to someone else. Here’s what’s planned.
Mandatory Shoebox (Table) Project – There will be table projects in the morning and the afternoon, so bring your idea and all the supplies (precut but not prestamped or prepunched) needed for making your project with your tablemates in the morning; another group will make your same card in the afternoon. Please use quality products. When our final count is in, you will know the table sizes and how many will be needed. You will need to bring three extra completed shoebox projects (which includes hostess thank you, one for the church and one for your table so that everyone can follow it for directions). This project will generally be a full card, with layers and embellishment(s). Please provide any special adhesive that's needed. So, just to say it another way: Bring 3 completed projects + make up 20 packets of materials needed to make your project. Extra parts to fix any "oops" should also be provided. Make these something you’d be thrilled to get yourself. Your projects should all be the same.
Since we only have 18 attendees, you only need 18 kits plus the 3 completed. Everyone will get to make all 18 projects. Isn't that exciting?....no missing out on any!!!!
SPECIAL NOTE: Because you will be switching tables, but your projects staying behind, it will be important that you provide some basic directions for your project unless it is VERY obvious. Please include your name and SCS name as well. Thank you!
Swaps – ALL SWAPS ARE OPTIONAL. You’ll know how many to make when we post the final counts, and you’ll have plenty of notice since the deadline is well in advance of the event.
NVR Card Front Swap -
Recipe Swap –
ATC Swap –
Twisted Card Swap
Technique Swap 6 by 6 card with instructions for a technique
SU! Demo Quality* Swap
Food – Please indicate on the registration sheet the specific food item you will bring to share. Please don’t just say “food” or “whatever you need”. Ideas: breakfast items, lunch items, including salads, desserts and snacks. We love to try your homemade food specialties! Bottled water and coffee will be provided. Please BYO soda.
Make & Take for All – Because of doing shoebox projects in the a.m. and p.m., we will have only one or two large group projects. If you would like to provide one, please let me know your idea.
Door Prizes– Donations from our own group are most welcome so let me know if you’d like to make a door prize donation and what it is. Our participants are always so generous!
Gift Swap – You don’t have to sign up for this one, but if you would like to participate, bring a gift related to our stamping passion. Everyone who brings a gift to swap will also leave with one. Value on these should be in the $5-10 range, and stamped projects are always appreciated! If it’s something you’d like to take home, it’s probably perfect! Be sure to include your name somewhere inside so the lucky winner knows who to thank. Wrap it up prettily to encourage “stealing”. REMEMBER: Stamping-related!!!
Other – Please bring your own labeled items for your personal stamping needs, including your favorite adhesive. These are the items you just can’t stamp without, like: bone folder, paper cutter/scorer, scissors, straight edge, stamp cleaner and whatever else you can't stamp without! Did I say adhesive????? Adhesive! You will likely need lots of it.
Make and wear a nametag with your name and your SCS name so that we know you on sight. There will be a nametag contest so keep that in mind when you’re creating yours.
Don't forget your camera!
REMEMBER: Complete the registration form and forward with your $20 payment by 5 pm February 6. All funds collected will be spent on the event. Your registration is complete when your payment is received. If you have any questions, please ask! Looking forward to seeing you in February.
Card Ministry for the church:
Pastor Janet says she would appreciate any Thinking of You or Get Well cards we might be able to give them. Since they are letting me use the facility for such a reasonable rate, I would appreciate if you could each bring old samples you may no longer need. THANKS!!!
Technique Swap is a 6 by 6 recipe type card, with intructions on the technique, plus a sample of it. Special folds are also welcome.
The twisted swap is those kinky, possibly racy cards. The punchline may be on the inside, so they are usually full cards. If you think these would make you uncomfortable, you might want to pass on this swap.
SU! Demo Quality MUST be all current SU! products. If they aren't in a current catalog, please don't use them. If you can't use all SU! products then you should consider the NVR (no vendor requirements) swap
This is a 6 x 6 scrapbook page that includes one of your favorite food recipes or kitchen tips. Two layers of cardstock minimum, please use at least one embellishment. Please make sure there is something stamped. Please do your best work. You can check out the gallery for ideas if you need some. There are many 6 x 6 recipe swaps. Just be sure it is a food item please.
PLEASE PM me if you'd like to be included in this swap. I'll add you to the list started below.
Vendor products: NVR (no vendor restrictions)

Reason: 6 x 6 RECIPE SWAP!!! YUMMO!!
This is a FULL CARD SWAP because often times the "punchline" will be on the inside of the card. The twisted swap is those kinky, possibly racy cards. If you think these would make you uncomfortable, or are easily embarrased, you might want to pass on this swap.

Reason: adding swappers of course
It's been a long time since we've done this one. This is a great way to get a set of 6"x6" references cards for some new and different techniques.
You will be making a 6" X 6" page with instructions for the technique of your choice and a sample of the finished techique somewhere on the page. An ATC sized sample works well.
If you are looking for a technique, the resources section is a good place to start. I have a word document of past techniques that have already been done at CNY SCS events, if you are interested. PM me with any questions.
Make sure you tell me what your technique is, once you figure it out.

The ATC Swap is the Artist Trading Card Swap - Finished ATC comes out to be 2.5" x 3.5" (baseball card size). You can use any paper, embellishments, ink, etc. you choose. Please use at least 2 layers of good quality card stock. This is a good chance to use all those little stamps that you never know what to do with.
To cut an 8 1/2" x 11" paper into 10 ATC size pieces of paper do the following. Using your paper cutter, take the 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock and make a cut at 2 1/2" and 5" along the short side. You will have three strips of paper. On the first two that are 2 1/2" wide, make cuts at 3 1/2", 7", and 10 1/2". On the third strip which is 3 1/2" wide make cuts at 2 1/2", 5", 7 1/2" and 10".
