I want to buy the refills for my snail for less than $5 from SU. I know it's a Tombow product, but which one? They seem to have more than one tape dispenser that looks similar?
Thanks.

I got that one and it fits the dispenser but it looks different - the glue is greenish/blueish, and snail is clear. Are they the same? Does this stuff hold as well (or as badly) as snail?

I can't tell you since I refuse to use that stuff anymore. My personal opinion... Go get yourself an ATG and be done with snail/tombow. You'll be glad you did and wonder why you wasted so much money on that stuff.

Yes, they are the same. Tombow quit selling the clear and went to the blue, although it still goes on clear. I liked the clear better. This blue one doesn't seem to stick quite as well, although it's still ok. I prefer using Scor Tape or XPress it tape.
I broke down and ordered an ATG gun. I can't bring myself to pay $4.50 for each refill from SU. It's insane.
I just hope I can get used to the gynormous thing.
And yeah, I do use and like Scor Tape for some things. It's just not a quick way to apply adhesive - you have to tear the strips and then pry off the backing, etc. It does stick like the blazes, though.

At least you can tear the Scor Tape by hand. Even though I love the red liner tape, you have to cut it and it is so full of static. I have looked the ATG over and over and just can't bring myself to buy one more toy that I may not like. So let me know what you think. By the way, you can get a three pack of the tombow refills at Michaels or ACM for 9.99 and I wait until I have a coupon and stock up.
You'll like your ATG. I was worried about it being heavy as well since I have carpel tunnel in both wrists. I had tried one tape gun before - it was a big yellow one - and that sucker was heavy and it wasn't balanced very well. It kept wanting to topple over and twist my wrist - which hurt like the dickens - so I resisted the pink ATG for the longest time. I finally had it with tombow when a card I made fell apart only 2 weeks after I made it. That's when I got my 50% coupon and headed to Michaels and got my ATG and haven't had any issues with it (except user error). I buy my refills from Tape Depot and buy enough to get free shipping. I also buy the acid free so that I can use it on my scrapbooks. It works out to about $1.80-$1.90 per refill.
I'm sure I'll adjust to the size if I put my mind to it (and hide my snail).
But also I've heard the tape smells. I think it's the acid free that people said that about. I hope so, because I've ordered the non acid free. It should be okay for cards.

I never noticed any odour from my tape so I just sniffed what I have in my ATG and there is a very slight musty smell, but I had to stick my nose right in the opening at the bottom to smell it. If you're super sentitive to odours, it may bother you, but from my nose, it was almost undetectable.
Well, I just got my ATG gun and I have taken it out of the box.
HA!!!
I am reminded of the poster on another thread who said she likes the fact that the ATG gun doesn't get lost on her desk among all the other stuff. Yeah, I don't think this thing is in any danger of fading into the background clutter.
But I'm going to give it a go. I have not loaded it up and tried it out yet, but I can't be the only one who is used to using snail and almost fell over when she pulled this thing out and got a look at the size of it by comparison!

I think you will like it a lot. It works so much better, and is so much cheaper i the long run than the other. Oh, and the not falling apart thing is good too. I doubt you'll have to hide your SNAIL, you'll just forget about it soon.
Oh, it fits perfectly into the middle hole of the PC tool turnabout when it's time to clean up.
