Default Feathers

I see many of you ladies make cards with feathers, that look, well, really feathery. The stems in the feathers disappear and they look so fluffy.
Are there different types of feathers? I am only seeing the ones with the stems down the middle. This may be a silly question, but I am baffled by this.
Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

i found some very pretty feathers at Michaels, they were near the felt and leather craft supplies....they are smallish in size. they had "realistic" colors, as well as neon and brights etc etc.......they were sold by the bagful, for a few $........

and, no, your question is not silly! i know exactly what you are trying to describe! like feathery plumes!

If you look for marabou feathers, that might be more like what you're looking for.
I think they usually look great on other people's cards but am not so happy when I try using them myself!!
This is a UK website, so I'm not suggesting you use it, it's just for a picture. The top one, the smaller ones, look to me to be what you're talking about?
marabou feathers, wedding feathers, bright colours, fly fishing, crafts, cardmaking, cake decoration & costume making

Yes, you are talking about maribou feathers...I use them on vintage cards a lot. All the craft stores sell them...cheaply.

Some of the cards using them are so cute. I wish I could use them. But, with three cats and two bird dogs living in the house, they wouldn't last one day in my room.

LOL - same here! We also have birds, HA! One of the four cats, who is a real sweetheart, will become positively vicious if he gets hold of a feather!

How funny! I've never given a feather to mine ... sounds like possibly too much excitement for a senior kitty. lol

I checked at Jo-annes today and did not see anything called Maribou feathers. Just the other kind. Anyone know who carries them?
