Default Hello

Hello, I am a new member, registered today, from England. I can hardly believe how many members there are on the website, what a mine of information and inspiration!

Is there a list of inks and their uses, with papers, pens, etc on the site? If not, and any member cares to help a new stamper with info about inks I should appreciate it. I struggle knowing which inks can be used with what, and their various purposes. I think I've learned something, and then someone else says the opposite! Because my memory is not good, 'just play' leaves me and my materials covered in ink, and no further forward.
I need a list to start me off.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's work and ideas, 'thank you for having me'. Cheers, Treetops.

Hi and welcome!

We have a few resources that I think will help. First, this is a link to our Stamping Basics section inside our tutorial page: Rubber Stamping Techniques & Card Basic Training: Stamping Basics - Splitcoaststampers

Next, we have a Tool & Product forum where our members discuss every ink, tool and accessory under the sun! Splitcoaststampers Stamping Tool & Product Talk Forum: Cuttlebug, Cricut, Crop-a-dile, Stampendous & More FAQs

I have some good links in my signature to help get you settled, and if you ever need any help - just ask - everyone is very helpful!

Hi treetops and welcome from New Zealand! I have been stamping for over 10 years and have played with most types of ink so if you want to let me know brands of inks you have I can say what they are most suited for. Feel free to send me a pm (private message) by clicking on my username (parkes) and finding the personal message option.

Hello

.....and a million apologies to UnderstandBlue!!! After your marvellously generous, helpful offer it has taken me all this time to reply! Please forgive me, I am so sorry. There isn't any excuse, although we have been so busy helping out with our new grandchild, (busy, and loving every second) and then being stricken with a horrid bug (which I'm still struggling with), that any crafting has had to take a very back seat.

If you are still willing to help my understanding of inks I should be very grateful. I have a huge range of inks, Distress, Stazon, Brilliance, Adirondacks, Archival, Big and Juicy, Versafine, Versacolor, Memento, Versacraft, Impress, and lots of pads ma(including Anna Griffin) marked pigment or water-based inks. (Now you're sorry I finally replied!) I also have a Colorbox of 'fluid chalks', which I think are used like inks?

I watch the crafting programmes on tv and get carried away, they make it look so easy, then I forget what to do with what! I'm not efficient enough to have properly marked all my recordings to search for things, so if I have any advice to give to new crafters it would be this - clearly mark what you've recorded and keep the info safe and handy!

Again, many thanks to UnderstandBlue. Bless you, I shall understand if you decide not to respond, but I thank you for the offer. (New Zealand, how exciting!)
Cheers, Treetops

Right, I am making a pig's ear of this.
Although I do appreciate UnderstandBlue's response, my 'million apologies' were intended for Parkes, and I want to put that straight. I am struggling to negotiate the forum, and things don't seem to work properly (my fault, I'm sure!) but I could at least get a name right. Sorry, the forum is a minefield to me. A million thanks again, 'Parkes', for your generous offer. Cheers, Treetops
