Question What distress inks should a beginner start with?

I have come into a little extra money and would love to buy distress inks and re-inkers. However I just can't afford all 49 colors and their inks. So which colors would you suggest I start with?

Thanks!

I waited for Joann's to have their one-half off sale on Distress ink pads (from $4.99 each to $2.49 each). I then went to the store and picked up each color they had (about 10). Then about a month or two later, Joann's had another one-half off sale online with FREE shipping, and I purchased the same 10 colors of re-inkers. I'm very happy with my purchases and I think I got the best deal around!

I did the same as Buncobuddy, but mine was at Hobby Lobby. The first color I bought before that was Vintage Photo. I used it quite alot. Here are the three colors I seem to use the most: Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, and Broken China. The colors are very easy to match with most papers. I would say go with the colors you like and choose at least one brown (It goes with anything). Hope I helped!

I also usually pick mine up when there's a good sale or coupon at Joann's, Hobby Lobby or Michaels. I started with brown shades, perfect for giving a weathered or vintage look. My first was Walnut Stain, but now I have a few different hues to create that look. I have many more distress inks now and use them for all kinds of projects, but I think those brownish shades are the most versatile.

Definately Vintage Photo and China Blue. I really like the Raspberry, Salt Ocean, and Peacock Feather.
