Question storing Sizzix dies....how?

Anyone have a DIY storage system for Sizzix dies? The bulky kind and the long ones. They are heavy and bulky and I can not come up with a great way to store them.

I have a modular shelving system from Ikea - I think it's called Erik? And I made one of the sections the right size for just my Bigz XL dies - I can read the labels and it's neat. Any bookshelf will work!

Can't believe I've never thought of storing them on a bookshelf! Sizzix are the one item that I've never had a great system for organizing or storing. Thanks for sharing.

Default Sizzix die storage

I don't have a lot of these dies, but what I have I store them in a "really useful box." I believe it is the 3 litre size. I have 1 with just holiday dies and another for the other ones. The lid will fit on with no problem, which I like to keep the dust out. I then store the boxes on a baker rack! These are really great boxes, I also have another one that I store my paper pads in (6X6) size! These boxes can be purchased at Office Depot and Office Max!

I made a box for my decorative strip dies from sizzix (the long thin sizzlet dies).

I had gotten one die for Christmas and had two others on order. I had also ordered the clear plates and the white base unit as well.

I really liked the box I made until my order arrived. The clear plates fit in the box, but the white base unit was too long by about 1/2"!!!!

I store mine in jetmax 4 drawer cubes. They fit perfectly and I can see all the names.

How do you store the Sizzix dies in there? I could see the slim Spellbinders type but the chunky Sizzix dies?

I keep my BigZ dies in "Pysslingar" textile boxes from IKEA. They come in packs of 3, 2 of them are square and one is longer (= double the square). The small ones are slightly wider than the BigZ dies, which leaves a bit of room to either put the slim Sizzlits or Cuttlebug plates. Long Sizzlits dies and the long Cuttlebug plates will fit in the longer box. I fill spaces up with Spellbinders dies.

You can fit two boxes in the small Billy shelves (around 16 inches wide I think) or all of them in the larger Billy shelf. Expedit compartments are too small to fit two boxes next to each other.

The Pysslingar wall storage wall pockets work as well. I keep other stuff in mine, but have just checked and the dies and regular cutting pads fit as well.

I was at a local store where they make and sell unfinished furniture. I found some really cute wooden 'bookcases' for $8. They were actually designed to store cds. They work perfectly. I have a lot of the red, green and yellow dies, as well as the blue alphabet dies and the BIGZ dies. The BIGZ dies are too big for these cd bookcases. I have the large BIGZ alpha dies [the 4" ones]. I purchased some canvas containers that are perfect for holding those. It took 4 of the canvas storage buckets, but they are all lined up on a shelf and easy to find.
