If you use Stampin up cardstock, how...

do you organize it? I use the 8.5 x 11 size and keep it in the Cropper Hopper containers. Do you divide it by individual color and label from there or do you divide by category like SU does - bolds, subtles, etc? I have a lot of older paper too, and I don't know what color it is, so I am trying to get this totally organized for the present and the future! In some cases, I only have 4 or 5 sheets of one color. Thanks for your thoughts!!

I JUST re-did mine last night. I have leather crates from Target, and I have them organized by color with plastic dividers in between. Until last night I had full packages and scraps between each divider but it was messy. So I got 10x13 ziploc bags from Clearbags and now I have full unopened packages on their sides in the back of each section and a ziploc full of loose full sheets and scraps in the front of each section. It's easy just to reach in the bag and it won't get dusty or chewed by the kittens any more. I found a LOT of toothmarks when I was reorganizing.

Store mine alphabetically in hanging file folders. Each file label is made from the actual card stock whose name is printed on it.

I bought open file boxes from the Container Store, and store my cardstock in manilla folders within the boxes. I lay them on their side so the paper doesn't warp.

Here's a closeup of one of the boxes.

And here's a picture of all of the boxes in my bookshelf.

I now have five, and instead of facing them out, I now turn them sideways which means the bottom two shelves can fit a total of six boxes.

I don't organize them by color family. I store them by color - neutrals, pinks/purples, yellows/reds/oranges, greens, blues.

I keep mine in file folders in a filing drawer. I keep each color in one folder with full sheets in the back and scraps in the front. I keep mine sorted with like colors, so all of the blues are together, lighter to darker, then greens etc. I have 3 drawers for this. I keep my white and cream in the 3rd drawer with my other colored cardstock like Bazzil and MFT. That drawer is only 1/3 full. My only change would ever be to replace the drawers with drawers that fit 12 x12 file folders, but since it is a whole desk and cabinet system, I am really dreaming.

I have a hanging file folder system, too. Each file has a labeled, colored tag. The cardstock is stored in heavy duty page protectors. All scraps are tucked into the front of the page protectors, so I can instantly see if there is a cut piece that I can use or if I have to cut a whole sheet.

I also have printed labels on the front of the protectors so I can check off if I have DSP, ribbon, or accessories in that color, as well as a spot to check if it is retired or if there is an unopened pack stashed elsewhere.

All colors are sorted by spectrum.

I have a mix. I have a Thirty-One file n go that I have a bunch of the card stock in. It makes it easy to take to crops/retreats etc. I also have an old CM workshop organizer with the wire rack and file folders that I was/am using. but I'm in the middle of redoing my igloo and I took one of the units from Michaels that I had for holding some CM palettes and turned it flat, so I can stack my whisper white and very vanilla in one slot laying down, and then the other 2 I'm deciding what other colours are my "go to" colours and putting them in there. I also recently got a few of the stackable 8.5x11 plastic trays and I am going to put them on top of this unit to stack up my cardstock.

for my 12x12 DSP I have 2 of the white cube storage units from Michael's that use the hanging files and for my 'scraps' I have 2 sets of plastic drawers I am using-they also hold my pre-cut card bases, 6x6 paper and specialty paper (i.e vellum etc)

Mine are in hanging folders in a filing cabinet ROYGBIV-style. Scraps are in photo pages organized by size/color in folders at the front of the drawer.

I second that emotion! I have two of his combo ink pad/refill/marker units and I'd fight a bear for those! LOL

I'm attaching my label document, just in case you can use it. I neglected to put catagories for 12 X 12 or textured cs, so I just write those on the pertinent page protectors.

I do not have any SU card stock, yet but will very, very soon. The way I plan on storing it, is in a two drawer file cabinet, organized by color groups and plan on cutting a color insert of each color to stick inside the size of tab.

I use a small book shelf behind my main desk...I have all my markers on top, some inks on the shelf and all my 8.5x11 cardstock in alphabetical order in magazine holders on the bottom shelf...They are turned backward and covered to avoid any fading from lights or sunlight...

I store mine in ROYGBIV order in a file cabinet on wheels. I found some labels for the hanging folders made from the cardstock on ebay so it's easy to glance and see what color I may want.

I used to organize mine by the Stampin Up color family...but then colors were discontinued and then they changed some of the families around...and on top of that..they added the In Colors. Last year I organized them in a lateral filing cabinet by color and think that is the best way to store them. Easier to look at all of the reds or blues etc and decide on one for your project.

I store my 8.5x11 SU cardstock in a unit that my FIL built me....I LOVE IT!! I keep mine by color families (and in alphabetical order within each color family). But that's how I "think"....my retired colors are kept in a cropper hopper file (not labeled, but when I have time, it's on my list)

My 12x12 SU paper is stored in cropper hopper files with a paper pocket for my scraps to separate each color. These too are kept by color family and then alphabetically within each color family. I wish I had room, I would have my FIL build me a new cabinet that had space for both 8.5x11 and 12x12 cardstock side by side.....one day, right?!?

These are in wire mesh magazine holders and the names of the colors are typed and held on by black brads. If I have to change anything, I can take the list off, put a new one on.

I organize by color. Reds together, pinks together, etc.
ROYGBIV also.

Some are mesh magazine holders, others are just stacked upright and leaning on the previous stack of card stock. I almost like the colors that are not in the mesh holders. They are easier to pull out.

I re-did our closet last year in ROYGBIV, by type of shirt, but I can NOT do that for my cardstock! I have my C/S in two file cabinets. They are sorted by color group first, then in alphabetical order. When I look at the DSP label and see what colors are on it, finding my matching c/s is much easier in alphabetical order. I buy cheap folders every few years and replace them because they are in and out frequently. I print Avery Labels with the biggest font I can fit on the tabs to make the colors easier to get to.

One drawer holds anything retired in alphabetical order, keeping it separate from current stuff.

I keep mine in traditional file cabinets, with hanging files. The 2-drawer cabinets fit under my desk. Every SU color gets it's own folder and the partial sheets and scraps fit in the folder, so everything is together.

I've been stamping for 10 years, so I have quite a bit of paper, so the drawers are full enough that I don't have a problem with the paper warping in empty drawers.

This what I use...spent a lot of money and wasted a lot time trying diff methods. It will be the last one I ever buy.

I spray painted the doors...on the inside...with krylon fusion paint. Paint the doors be assembling...lol...and drink no wine!!!

I have to remember where I saw it. But if you have the SU round tab punch, there is a file that has all the colours labeled so you just punch them out.

I also use the Cropper Hopper folders for all my 8 1/2 x 11 papers.

SU cardstock: I have one folder for reds, pinks, oranges, greens, etc. For dividers I cut thin chipboard from 12x12 paper stacks to fit just above the cardstock so I can see the color label I made with my label maker.

Also have separate folders for WW/VV, Shimmery White/Glossy, & black.

Non-SU 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock: I folder per color as above but no dividers. Because I have limited space and not that much non-SU cardstock, I have 2 colors per folder (blue/green, red/pink/purple, yellow/orange, neutrals (brn/tan/grey).

I don't have any 8 1/2 x 11 double sided paper. If I did have any, I would pick the color I like the most and store it in that folder like I do for 12x12 paper.

I used to store my SU 8 1/2 x 11" cardstock in file cabinets with a hanging folder for each color, and a tab made out of the cardstock with the printed name of the color. However, I do so much class prep, i got tired of opening and closing the drawers to get at the cardstock all of the time. So now I am in my new stamp room, I have enough countertop space to have it out right by my cutter. After looking at many many options, I went with these paper sorters from The Container Store:

I love that these shelves are adjustable, so I was able to purchase extra shelves to fit 20 colors in one cube - which means that I can fit all 4 SU color families into just 2 of the cubes, saving my counter space. The shelves have a lip on the back, and easily slide out for easy access. There is also enough space between the paper and the edge of the shelf for me to attach my color tabs. It was spendy by the time I bought all the extra shelves, but they are on sale right now so it brought it down to the range of some of the wood ones that are available such as the stamp-n-store. Plus I was able to pick them up immediately from my local store, so no shipping money or time.

I use these containers from Stampendous to store my 8 1/2 X 11 cardstock. I don't have individual packs of each SU color but do have each of the color families which stores nicely in them. The scraps are kept in the same container as the full sheet so I'm now using my scraps!!

Unfortunately, no. They are wide enough, but not deep enough. I plan to use the system shown in this thread for my 12x12 paper using some different container store boxes:

I have ordered some 13x13 clear zip bags to keep coordinating papers together, and will label them with a permanent marker. That way i can keep the scraps with them too.

I have a cat that has an aversion to plastic and anything left in a ziplock bag or plastic bag of any kind gets the teethmarks! LOL

I store my paper by Color Collection in Iris Boxes and hanging folders. I keep a quart sized ziplock in the front of each color for the pieces and parts. The only exception is that I have the Whisper White and Very Vanilla in the front of Box #1 since I use one of them for every card I make.
