Default 100 Cards/Projects in 100 Days

So I keep asking myself - How do I keep the creative juices flowing and continue to use up my stash (it's still way way way too large)? How can I take a stamp set I already have and see it in a new way? How can I justify locking myself up in the craft room for hours on end during the summer?

The answer - 100 Cards/Projects in 100 Days

I am going to use my current cardstock (and not buy another piece of it for this challenge) to make 100 cards and/or projects with the supplies I have on hand, my current stamp sets, and a few borrowed from friends. No specific themes, no particular sentiments, and no crazy runs to the big box craft store for extra "stuff" that I may or may not ever use.

My 100 days starts on June 1, 2012 and ends on September 8, 2012. I figure I can burst out 4-7 cards once a week (maybe do 2-3 cards twice a week) and stay on schedule. I may even get far enough ahead of schedule to finish early and treat myself to...that's the part I need to figure out next.

Do I buy more stuff as a reward? That's like cooling down from a long run with a milkshake and fries. Maybe a scrapping weekend where I can use up a little more and get some of these pictures in albums? Massage? Mani-pedi (though I will probably get those every few weeks througout the summer anyway)?

Suggestions?

Good luck with your challenge. Hope you get lots of stuff done and use up a bunch too.

I have some great sources for sketches/layouts for scrapbooking. Does anyone know of something similar for card layouts?

Sounds like a fun challenged you've created for yourself! Alot of sites, including Operation Write Home, have challenges using specific card layouts and then you fill in the details. I'm sorry I can't think of any others, although I believe there are some here on SCS.
How about treating yourself and a friend to a wonderful dinner at your favorite restaurant at the end of your challenge with all the $$$$$ you'll save?!

Here is an example of the kind of card sketches for which I am searching.

I really like Page|Maps --- has scrapbooking and cardmaking layouts by Becky Fleck. I have also used the Wednesday Sketch Challenges here at SCS --- the great thing about those is there are samples in gallery. Good luck!

That's a very ambitious plan and I wish you so much luck! I really like the part of how you decided not to purchase anything new for your project.

I would love to do this also! And I second the sketch challenge here on SCS. You can download PDF files of all of the challenges from the beginning. Every now and again I will use an old sketch that I have done in the past and it is fun to see how different the finished products are. Good luck with your challenge, I will be joining you!

Thanks for the links to the card sketches. I've found my creativity sparked recently by looking at different layouts. I do like to look at cards in the gallery but these links are great for quick references..I sometimes get bogged down as there are so many gorgeous cards in the gallery.

Default What a great idea!

I love the fact that you are going to use what you have on hand.

I LOVE checking in on stampinpretty.com (Mary Fish SU demo blog). She has a sketch once a week and you can scroll down and get older sketches if you'd like.
Right here on SCS is also another favorite place for me to glean ideas.

May your quest become a great adventure and I hope you find some wonderful places to donate your work to bless others with your creativity. " )

Make sure you post some of your handiwork. Many of us would love to see what your creative juices will bring to the surface.

Sounds like a great plan! I hope you have a blast with it. Can't wait to see what you make along the way! I would definitely treat myself out with someone special for a dinner after it is all over...I love to go out to eat for special occasions...when you pull this off, I know it will be a special occasion!

To reward youself - How about you save yourself a little $ and make card sets for upcoming birthdays or Christmas. Since these "gifts" won't cost your more than what's in your stash you can use that extra $ to get you some new "toys!"

You can the the SCS sketches only here: Splitcoaststampers Member Galleries - SCSketches - Handmade Cards & Crafts
It's fairly up to date and has plenty of inspiration without the distraction of finished sketches ;-).

Back on topic, I read this last night and was trying to think what I'd do as a treat for myself. I think I would likely buy something for card-making, but tools rather than consumables. Maybe a couple of Nestabilities that are on my wish-list but I wouldn't be likely to get as part of my regular buying pattern. But if you really don't want to add more your stash, then a massage sounds like a great option , or a spa day even better. After achieving your goal you should certainly reward yourself with something out of the normal.

I don't have a huge stash that needs weeding out...but I could use the challenge as well. Because I need to get back onto a regular stamping schedule of a little bit more often instead of a lot here and there.

I LOVE the paper smooches sketches!

Great idea!!! I was asking myself what kind of reward Iwould give myself if I did this challenge, and I think I'd buy some type of organizers for my craft room. That way, I could organize what I have, and not be buying more stuff I may never use. ;)

Prep:

I just realized I am out of blades for my cutter and stamp cleaner and have only have 1/4 of a roll left on my ATG which I will burn through in 10 minutes! I guess I will need to make a quick run to the store after all.

I have plenty of liquid glue, versamark and embossing powder, plenty of inks, copic markers are full and ready...

Now I need to read up to see which publications are wanting which kinds of cards over the next couple of months. I may have already missed the halloween window, but I might be able to squeeze in a couple of thanksgiving and Christmas cards.

I have done similar challenges for myself in the last few years but always made adhesive one of the exception items since if I run out of that I can't keep going

Try to make your blades last longer! Slide a piece of copy paper under the cardstock you want to cut. The copy paper will catch the bottom, dull part of the blade, and your cardstock will still have a sharp cut. If this doesn't work, try it with two sheets of copy paper.

Wow, what a wonderful idea...I'll soon be cutting back to four days a week at work....maybe an extra day of stamping...great way to try to use up the supplies and there so many care facilities and non-profit fund-raisers who can use the cards. Sounds like a plan.

Thanks for the link to Page Mags added it to my favorites. Great thread.

I think I will join you too Mindy! I have way too much retired paper & stamps. Will see which I use, and sell the rest! Great idea.

I also need to do some serious CCC catching up too so that might be my first few!

Thanks for sharing the idea!

Mindy - I think it's a fabulous idea! I have too much stuff, too little time to craft and not enough motivation to change the situation. A challenge like this is just what I need - although going in to it suspecting you will fail is probably not the best way to begin, right?
I'm more inclined to complete things if I have a deadline (done!) and a way to check my progress as I go.
I see there are a few others who like the idea too - maybe we can use this thread as a way to check on each other?

Tamijo,
I rarely run out of adhesive since I purchased my ATV gun. The refills are very inexpensive, too!

I'm loving this thread and saving the card maps, so I can start using some of my stash that hasn't been touched in a very long time!

Let the stamping and creating begin! (See what you started... *GRIN*)

I am going to put a note on my blog as I get started to explain the challenge and will look for some kind of counter to keep track of my progress there.

How are you going to keep track with your progress?

I've done a 10x10 grid. I've just finished my first card and the grid had just about enough room for me to do a date and very short description!

Only 99 to go!

I couldn't wait to start...so I started a few days ago. I'm keeping track on my blog, ticking one off each time I post. I'm having a great time, and my new Hubby's excited that I'm not shopping for 100 days, so everyone's happy around here! Great way to start our marriage! LOL.
