Default Mod Melt CHA 2013 Make your own embellishments

I love to make my own embellishments and I thought this has possibilities:

I wonder if the molds are silicone? They look similar to molds from Martha Stewart in the cake decorating supplies.

They would be excellent for altered items, especially if you could make your own casting molds and use their "glue".

They look like silicone to me but I couldn't find anything (yet) that confirms that. I found a little more info on the internet: Cathie and Steve {Make. Bake. Celebrate!}: Our New Product Line: Mod Melts for Mod Podge! DIY your own embellishments!.

I can tell by the picture they are silicone molds. Also the different mediums being used are popular in the silicone molds. I love the designs of the mold. I look forward to seeing them in person. I like the sticks too. Those will make some beautiful embellishments.

This looks really interesting and I'm thinking the products won't be too expensive seeing as it's from Mod Podge.

OOhhhhh! I need that! Especially if you can use the Mod Melts stick with any silicone mold. My brain is already spinning at the possibilities! TFS!!

Yw. I also like that if you already have a high temp hot glue gun, no need to buy a another (eyeroll) tool to melt the sticks.

Think the resulting embellishments would be lightweight, too, which I like.

I'm wondering how thick some of the embellishments are. It's hard to tell how deep the mold is, but some of them, like the rose she demonstrates, look quite thick in spots. I already have problems mailing cards with any raised areas, so I'd need to be really careful about these new goodies.

I'm guessing but I would think that you don't have to fill the molds up all the way.

I bought some molds and melts. The molds are about 1/8" and silicone. You wouldn't have to fill the molds all the way for some of the designs. I've been using seal wax in them and really like it. Their melts aren't bad and I like the idea of making it any color...but I'm not much of a painter.

Cool! I bet you could also melt those sticks in the Melting Pot by Ranger.

Thanks for the feedback, darlenemcg. I got four of the molds and a pack of the white melts a few weeks ago but haven't had a chance to try them yet. This is good news And the idea for the melting pot is a good one, scrapjanny - I had not thought of that !

I love to make my own embellishments.
