Default Does Spellbinders have a new die cutting machine??

I was watching a couple of videos where Stacy & Kim were demonstrating the new Imperial Gold dies . Both of them at different times said "They will work in the Grand Caliber OR the Artisan Explorer"
On one video Kim was assembling the Grand Caliber sandwich and said the sandwich was the same on the "Artisan Explorer"

I get to see things on their site that perhaps others do not because I have a wholesale account..it has not shown up yet but will soon if there is a new machine.

Here is the video where Stacy says the new Gold Imperial dies will work in the Grand Caliber and the "Artisan Explorer"

Announcing Spellbinders Imperial Gold Die Templates - YouTube

Here is the video where Kim is showing the sandwich for the Gold Imperial dies in the Grand Caliber and says " The sandwich is the same in the Artisan Explorer

How to Use Imperial Gold Die Templates - YouTube

I guess we need to "Stay Tuned"

PS the new Gold Imperial dies are gorgeous. They look like the cutting and embossing done with the old Brass embossing templates without all the work

there seems to be a metal plate to use with them also. I am using the Cuttlebug metal plate with the Grand Calibur to cut intricate dies. Works well. I heard from someone in one of my classes that Spellbinders was going to make an addition to the Grand Calibur that would be electric. Maybe they decided to do a whole new machine

I actually heard about this Artisan Explorer the other day. I think it's a European die cutter for the European market. Least that was my understanding.

Just having a wee fish around looking to see if anyone else had spotted to reference to this and found this post.

I did post somewhere on here many months back that I had a wee inside hint that they were bringing out an electric A4 cutting machine so I wonder if this is it then.
I had made several inquires with people connected with spellbinders because I was having trouble cutting my dies on my GB with my wrists being so bad. I had been looking to buy the big shot express but it had been discontinued and I had played a video from a die company that said a well known company was bring an electric machine out. Anyway this one person kind of said if I wanted 6 months or so depending on production I might be lucky.
I did however get a big shot express second hand and it looked like it had never been used but to be honest I don't like it one bit as if you muck up your sandwich even a little bit like your paper is a wee tiny bit thick the thing just stops mid cut and your die is stuck.

I for one will be running in to see what this new machine looks like.

Default New Machines

I have the Ebosser by Craftwell and love it but did jam it up badly. Normally it backs too thick sandwiches out. I had to send it to be unjammed which is not a small thing but their customer service is excellent My hands are beginning to cramp when I do a lot of paper crafting so it is a godsend for me. While it is in the shop I am using the Grand Calibur and Big Shot and finding I REALLY miss sliding in the plates and letting the machine do the work. If Spellbinders brings out an electric machine you can be sure it will be good.

I too was hoping that the new machine would be electric. Alas, it is not.... See today's post at the Spellbinders blog Spellbinders Paper Arts - Community - Blog - View Post - Explore Beyond: Sneak Peek and Giveaway Day Six It is a manual, high pressure machine with a small opening (4.25" wide) and looks like they are making it more for mixed media/jewellry applications. No mention of whether it can be used with other dies other than those from Spellbinders.

Stacy said in the video it will work with other Spellbinder dies.

I don't make jewelry or use other materials for die cuts, but for those who do art work with other materials it looks like a very interesting concept.

And frankly, in my opinion, there are so many paper die cutting machines on the market that people may need to turn their scrap rooms into a Die Cutting Machine Museums if this keeps up . LOL .

This is at least something different! And who knows it may become a trend to make little metal embellishments for our cards and scrapbook pages.

I love your die cutting museum comment. I busted up laughing. That's why I packed away all my cutters and kept two. I was looking at my cutters one day and said ENOUGH! I don't have room for new toys. I don't want a museum of die cutters, lol.

I make a lot of jewelry using my Cuttlebug. I am going to stick with my Cuttlebug and pass on the new machine. There is one mystery cleared up it's just not a machine for our UK girls. That kind of sucks too because I like when the UK girls get something exclusive that USA girls always covet.

After much digging I found the price of the Artisan Explorer. I was curious and had to know how much it will cost Marcos Paper has a Pre-order special price.

Sure is reasonable compared to other die cutting machines. But I don't dare start another craft. Paper is piling up!!!

I just looked at the new Spellbinders machine and it reminds me of the Texture Boutique. I'm sure its better made since it suppose to have more pressure, but that's my first impression...

I have always had only one die-cutter/embosser---Cuttle Bug. I love it and am sticking with it. Hopefully it will last as long as I'm alive, so I don't have to look for a replacement.

what is the reason for having more than one machine? i started with a cuddlebug and moved to a big shot pro. now i can see if i wanted an electronic/computerized machine, buy why so many manual machines? the ones that just emboss, do they do it better than the cuddlebug or the big shot pro. gosh, i cant decide on an new paper trimmer and i've been researching that for a year.

I saw on YouTube that Spellbinders has partnered with Susan Lenart Kazmer. Susan is a mixed media artists and her line of products includes some bezels. Susan developed the Ice Resin product. Spellbinders and Susan are introducing their matching dies/bezels. They explained that the new machine is a high-pressue machine and that's so you can process metal in it, but I'm not clear on exactly what you'd be doing with the new machine and the metal (cutting? embossing? both?). I think the video said Spellbinders is selling the metal, too.

There are quite a few CHA 2013 sneak peak videos on YouTube but frankly I'm a little overwhelmed by everything that is being previewed by all of the designers/manufacturers in the crafty industry so I had to get off of YouTube for a while LOL

My guess and it is simply a guess is that Spellbinders is branching out into the Jewelry making or mixed media art field with the new machine, supplies and dies.

They had a contest a couple of weeks ago Explore Beyond where people were asked to submit projects such as jewelry and things other than paper projects where they used Spellbinder dies. This was no doubt a prelude to the introduction to the new field they are entering .

Spellbinders may feel the die market for paper crafts is getting very crowded so they are adding another use for their dies.

Many years ago I saw this happen in beading. There are only so many different jewelry beading ideas so the designers started offering ideas for beaded clothing and household decorator items. I don't think the decorator items gained favor with most beader's. The cost of the beads to make a 3D vase/sculpture or wallhanging of any decent size could run into several hundred dollars . The beaded designs on clothing were more popular.

It will be interesting to see how many paper crafters make the leap to jewelry making or other metal art projects

The new jewelry die cutter die cuts and embosses plastic, leather, metal sheets and metal blanks. I wondered if it might need to have more pressure than a regulator machine for paper. But it absolutely will work for paper too. The only thing I'd be careful of would be embossing paper with a folder. Mine already punches holes in places in the embossing pattern so you'd have to experiment with the sandwich to make sure it didn't cut the paper into lace rather than just embossing.

I make bracelets, necklaces, charms, pins, keychains & earrings. My DH has done a watch. I don't have a gallery here.

I have several machines but a lot of them are packed away right now. I like having two different manual machines. I work with fabric a lot so I keep a manual machine just for my fabric work so my fabrics stay clean. Since I work with a lot of messy mediums I don't want to use a die cutter that I just ran a paint project through. Even my die cutter I use for messy projects is super clean. I am probably being overzealous. A lot of my fabric is expensive like silk. I have a Big Shot & Cuttlebug. Some of my friends have two different machines because they take one too crops and the other stays in their craft area.

I process metal for my resin pieces using the Cuttlebug. I am wondering what the Artisan does differently? It would be nice to use deeper bevels for resin pieces. The opening on the Artisan looks so small. Resin artists usually work with several pieces at once. I wonder how many bevels each die will contain. I guess I will have to see the machine in person before I am sold on it. I just sound like little Miss Grumpy. I don't mean too. I have an earache. :( I want the Artisan to be a hit for Spellbinders.

I have two manual machines also. The Grand Calibur and the Big Shot. Sold the Cuttlebug as I was having difficulty doing thin dies in it. Don't think I need another machine. I'm not starting jewelry at this stage of teh game.

oh, i cant start a jewelry hobby. i have resisted the beaded jewelry because with double vision those little bead holes are impossible! i see awesome jewelry at craft show, but i dont where much. i have a nose ring and four ear piercings, so i have plenty of "space", but i never ever change out the plain silver i wear. along with missing craft supplies, when i do buy cute jewelry at a show, i never remember to wear it.

seems like i could do all that in the big shot pro, if i get the itch to try.

Mixed Media is such a big thing these days and the surprising thing is you have probably made something that is considered Mixed Media and didn't even know it! LOL

Really the new Media Mixage' line from Spellbinders is not just jewelry making. It's another way to add interesting elements to your cards, scrapbook pages and home decor.

If you didn't know, I design for Spellbinders and I am not afraid to tell you that I was kinda scared when this whole concept was explained. But as I have used some of these products and incorporated them into my projects a whole new world has been opened for me and I love it!

Hopefully I can show some of the projects I made for the CHA booth so you can see what I am talking about. In the meantime, I should get off my lazy butt and make something! LOL

Some new YouTube videos were just posted on the 'Spellbinders Stacey' channel using the Media Mixage line products and I love what they made - gorgeous! And to Debbie's point, there are jewelery and other projects posted. Love this line I've used Ice Resin and it's a very high quality product. And I've used some of Susan Lenart Kazmer's bezels and they're very high quallity as well. And we all know the quality of Spellbinder's products.

Personally I am very excited about this new line.

Love all of their stuff and have a lot of it as well as the Grand Calibur which lets you use bigger paper than the Big Shot but I love my Big Shot as well. I'll have to look at the videos.

I had an earache for the past few days. I couldn't set down to watch all the videos until now. No, I don't think the Artisan is for me. Kind of reminds me of the Cuttlebug. It's a really nice machine for the mixed media artist that needs portability. For example a mixed media artist that teaches classes. I am good with my Cuttlebug & Big Shot right now. If I needed to upgrade machines then the Grand Caliber is a better fit for me.

I definitely want to look into some of the new smoother bezel dies. Those dies will save me a lot of money and room since I have to buy bezels all the time in different sizes. Now, I can just make them as needed. I really don't want to buy another machine just to use bezels. That's my only concern. I will have to see them the new dies in person to make a good decision.

Yes very disappointed at the new machine really need an a4 electric machine.

On the good side I got my first lot of 13 dies from CHA on Friday not had time for a play yet but they look fabulous my fav of this lot are opulent ovals, timeless rectangles, deco labels 22, adorning squares, detailed scallops and enchanted labels 28.
Can't wait to have a play with them but not able to so far as had 3 granbabies over the weekend on top of the flu and chest infection it was hard work. Just coming out the other side now so hopefully by Friday I will be in my craft room and running these through my GC to see what they look like cut out.

Wow that's a lot of dies! I use both the Big shot and the Grand Calibur but also have the ebosser as my hands cramp. Love the ebosser.
