Hi friends,
I'm thinking of buying an ATG Gun, I know a lot of people are using the 714 red one but I was thinking of buying the pink one at Michaels until I saw a video on you tube and others complaining that the pink one really squeaks a lot with time...do any of you have that problem...and I'm told that in the 714 one(if I decide to buy this one) I can interchange the gold tape for the one that is acid free that usually fits in the pink one that is 1/4 inch at Michaels which would be readily available to me even though I know that it is more expensive and can be bought somewhere else...My worry mostly is the squeaking I've heard and would appreciate any input from you...I live in Canada and a new Michaels has just opened near by. I hope I'm in the right section to write this if not I'm sorry and I've read a lot of comment on section ATG but honestly I don't have the time to read them all...could you help? I thank all of you in advance for any info you could give me...

I've had mine for a couple years and I haven't had any problems with sqeeking. If you decide to get one you'll really be glad you did. I also get my tape refills from The Tape Depot. They have free shipping - including to Canada - for orders over $50. The tape refill I buy is acid free. I also scrapbook so I didn't want to have to keep swapping out my tape or buy a second dispenser. They have the best price for the refills that I can find, especially for Canadian shoppers...

I have both the red and pink ATG gun, if I were to use them in a blind test, honestly, I wouldn't be able to tell. I feel that it's actually the tape that makes mine squeak on occasion. Both of my ATG gun would do that on occasion and its been hard to pinpoint the reason, sometimes the tape is harder to pull than others. It may be the temperature of my room that affects how easily the tape pulls off of its backing. I buy my tape from tape depot also. Regardless if its idiosyncrasies I still love my 2 ATg guns.
I recently got the pink one because my original red one was dropped one too many times.... I have had no squeaking problems.
Another vote for The Tape Depot on ebay! Their shipping is fast, usually shipping the same day I order.
I have the pink and NO squeaking. I have many different adhesives and this is the one that I always grab. It is the best deal. I buy my tapes, with coupon, at JoAnns.
I have the "Pink" one and haven't had any squeaks...lol You'll be very pleased with an ATG!!! I also had the teal one from the Tape Depot and was very happy with it. The only reason for my change in guns was that my daughter bought me the PINK one and I didn't want to hurt her feelings by not using it &&& I was able to pass on the other to a fellow SCS'r
I like the purple but I'm not sure I like how boxy that model looks. It also takes the 1/2" tape. I wonder if you can use 1/4" tape in it. Oh well, I should just forget about it. I don't need it, really. I don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it....
I have the pink ATG and have never had an issue with squeaking. Warning....you will be hooked once you get it. Especially if you make cards in bulk. I ditto the replies about refills. eBay is the way to go. I also scrapbook so when they went on sale for $10 last year for Black Friday, I purchased another one so I can have one for acid free and the other for general use.
My red 714 was fine when I put in a new roll but by mid way through I had problems with it not rolling smoothly. In fact it was so not rolling that I had to struggle with it (and usually the 714 won - I'd hurt my wrist fighting it). I called 3M and they walked me through some adjustment. Still had problems so they sent me a new one. That also had problems about a third through the roll although not as bad as the first one I had. So I thought I would give 3M one more try. I bought the pink one at Michael's with a coupon and love it. Makes no noise and I don't have to fight with it at the end of the roll. I guess "the third time is the charm."
