Paper adhesive

What type of glue do you use to do simple card projects? (ie gluing cardstock/paper together) I've been using the Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive which I love when I can actually get it out of the bottle - doesn't ripple the paper, a little goes a long way, quick drying - but I'm finding more often than not that the tip gets clogged.

Any other favorites?

I use Scor-Tape for most of my paper crafting projects.

I have an ATG that I use for most things and I love it. I also have Scor-Tape for extra hold. When I want a wet glue I use Scotch Quick Dry. I try to be diligent in putting the lid back on when I am working, but sometime in the heat of a project I forget. I keep a pokey thing handy for the clogs.

I'm now using my ATG gun for attaching layers of cardstock together. But before I got it, I used Tombow Mono-Multi in the green bottle. I still use it for attaching small pieces of cardstock. Just a tiny line around the outside edges holds very well.

You can usually find it at Hobby Lobby or Michaels, or order online for larger quantities.

I use my ATG for just about everything. For liquid adhesive, I have a few that I use - Sobo glue, Aileen's tacky (regular & quick grab), Zip Dry, Beacons 3in1, and a couple others I can't see at the moment... I also have one roll of Terrifically Tacky (red liner adhesive) and will use that up, but since its sold by Provo Craft, I won't be buying anymore of it since I refuse to buy their products anymore.

I have an ATG as well - love that thing so much that I have two and yes I do use them both.

I have also used E6000 for some forever projects.

And for my Christmas cards I was pleasantly surprised by some Martha Stewart glue that I used to adhere rhinestones - it had come with a glitter pack. I played and try to take them off and they are on solid.

How do you store it? I keep it upside down and the tip rarely clogs.

I use my ATG most of the time and the Tombow Mono Multi for teensy pieces. I also tried the Scor Tape. It seems like a good option if you don't like the ATG gun.

99% of the time I use my ATG. If I need a liquid glue I use Tombo Mono Multi or Aileen's Quick Grab. For a stronger hold for boxes, pocket cards, etc., I use Scor Tape in varying widths.

LOL! That's the truth - good stuff.

I was thinking about this just the other day. What's my ONE go-to adhesive? And the truth is, there is no one answer. I use different adhesives for different purposes.

To adhere down card liners, larger die cuts and strips of paper - ATG (it's one tool that never gets put away)
finer die cuts - glue dots or glue strips (various sizes)
even finer die cuts - Tombow (above) and glue pens (although I am leaning away from those since mine seem to quit working while there's still a lot of adhesive in there)
sometimes I use the double-sided scotch tape if my ATG is across the room
for 3D projects, like boxes - sookwang (aka scor-tape); this is good stuff and comes in lots of different widths
and don't forget about pop dots - I've started buying the foam (carpet, I think) tape b/c it's so cheap and does the same thing. besides, I like cutting it to my shape and size

I also use glue runners, the kind that uses dots. I like those because they don't leave the "tails" left by my ATG.

There's a new (to me) product by Tombow that's a glue runner that you pounce down (like a stamp) that looks like it's going to be good for fine pieces as well; I have one of those on order. So we'll see.

Did I offer more info than you were looking for? LOL. Good luck finding your just-right adhesive(s)!

P.S. I forgot one - in cases where I would ordinarily use a hot glue gun, I'm turning more and more to 450 or Zip Dry. They don't burn my fingers.

Those of you that use the ATG, do you find it more expensive than say the liquid glue? I find the Tombow mono glue goes a long way for the money. I am considering buying a ATG so I was just wondering. Also, was it hard to get used to as it is so big.

It's big, yes. I've heard others say it's too big for them. Personally, I consider the size a plus - I loose everything BUT my ATG, LOL. Expensive? When I bought the tool, I paid $70 for it. The other day, I saw them for $20 @ M's - couldn't beat that unless someone gave you one.

I buy my tape online. Last time I purchased, I purchased a case which means I paid less than $2/roll. There are others who can tell you exactly how much tape is on a roll, but I just know it's a lot. So, yeah, I think it's a pretty good value which is why I use it whenever feasible.

I have the pink ATG and use it for most everything. I found the original ATG (the professional one) was too big/heavy for me (I'm 6' tall, but have arthritis, LOL), but the Scotch one is perfect. Rolls can be expensive so I stock up whenever I see a great price. It is definitely worth it to me.

I also have Scor-tape, Tombow Mono and a bunch of other adhesives - it all depends on what I am making. Besides my ATG though, I can't live without my Zots!

I love my ATG. Big yes but I don't loose it. I don't have to wait for it to dry at at about $2 for a 36 YARD roll it's cheap. What's the best is it holds, it won't come undone that I've seen.

For cards, I just use a glue stick when I can because I don't know if the recipient will be throwing it away and I don't want to use really good adhesives for just a card. However, in special circumstances where it's necessary, I will use my Tombow, Scor Tape, Glue dots, etc.

I refrained from purchasing the ATG gun because of it's size and my on line seller convinced me to try it,even said she would take it back if I didn't like it. I was using the glue glider and she thought I was spending way to much on my adhesive. Well, I have never looked back, you do get use to using it and it is not as hard to use as one thinks. I use score pal tape on some of my projects, 2 way glue pens on the small detailed die cuts and mono glue for those flowers & embellishments to make sure there secure.

I use my ATG for most everything.(I am under 5' tall and have small hands) The way the ATG is engineered to work is fine with me. At first the size was intimidating but not now. Also, the tape come in rolls by the yard so it is economical.

I do use TomBow and 3M Quick Dry liquid glues, my Xyron, Miracle Tape, 2-way glue pens, etc. what I use is determined by what needs to be adhered and what I am attaching it to.

Scor-Tape (aka Sook Wang tape) - I love it! Economical, works great for attaching layers, ribbon, even bows or embellishments.

I thought about getting an ATG adhesive dispenser once. At the time it was suggested to go to a local office supply. I did and they looked at me like I was crazy. They said they had had very bad luck with them, that they got all gummed up, I think it was. So, are there different types of ATG. Apparently, since everyone thinks it is the best. Can you help me? Maybe a link to what everyone is talking about.

eyestitch, mine is the Scotch brand; I may be wrong, but I think they're about the only company that makes it (at least under that name). But to tell you the truth, if it got gummed up, it was probably b/c they didn't know how to load the tape properly (or maybe they got bad tape). Mine gets gummed up sometimes, but then I check how I loaded it and find that the error is mine 100% of the time. I used to work in the framing dept. at Michael's; we used it on every project there.

You're welcome. it delights to me to be of service. If I may, I would offer one other piece of advice. If you were my friend, I would advise you to wait for Michael's to run them for $20. They do this from time-to-time. They just offered it this week, so it may be a bit, but if you're not in a hurry, that's the cheapest I've seen it by far. Also, it's one of those items they highlight with a sale during Christmas time, so keep your eyes open.

I use a lot of different adhesives for different things. My two favorites are:

Dry-

ATG Tape without the gun- I know how to use the gun. I have small hands and it's not a problem. I prefer the tape without the gun. It's just one of those tools you know is right for you or not. I absolutely adore the tape.

Wet-

Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue.

I get mine on Ebay and buy the Swiss non-3M brand which I found out is Europe's name for 3M products Scapa. It works as good if not better than the 3M and much cheaper. My last 3M gummed up the Scapa has never done that. LOVE mine and wouldn't give it up. When I used glue and glue sticks after a year or so the cards fell apart. I've not had one come apart with this.

how much adhesive do you run on the side of a card. I was watching a demo the other day and they taped the full length of all four sides plus some. That is a lot of adhesive!!

I bought an ATG a while back and really like it, but have a hard time finding the refills. My LSS recently brought in a product called Sticky Thumb adhesive - I tried it and I'm hooked! The refills are easy to find (hard to keep in stock apparently though!)

When I attach a card front to my base, I run a line with my ATG all around the 4 sides, but none in the middle. I do like the edges to be firmly attached, because I don't want the card falling apart when someone tries to open it.

That may be overkill, but I am of the school of thought that more is better than less. The ATG is the most inexpensive adhesive I've found, so I feel I don't have to be too sparing with it.

Glue glider pro with Perma tac adhesive. I'd I was going for a wet adhesive for paper to paper i'd go with scrap happy sheer glue by Rubber Cafe. Amazing Stuff. Has a super fine tip and somehow never clogs. You need very little. Dries totally clear.

Has one feature you may or may not like. Can be a pro or con. It tries tacky. Great for adding glitter or flocking. Bad for adding lace or sheer ribbon as it can still attract dust, dirt, embossing powder etc if you are still making last minute changes to your card or when your card sits on a shelf (hopefully!!) I have to think carefully before I use it but its great. You need so little it doesn't wave the paper.

I once used tombow mono multi to add glitter to white snowflakes and ruined them because it isn't white and ages to even more yellow as it further dried in a few days and then even more in a few weeks as it was a home dec piece. I was so upset. This glue will not yellow.

I think having scrap happy and glossy accents would cover 95% of your wet glue needs!

I add about 3/4" of glue glider pro adhesive to each corner, same in the center and a bit less in the middle of each side for a full A2 card panel. I use the same proportion of adhesive for smaller panels; smaller panel, less adhesive. I use way more and stronger adhesive for embossed panels or ones warped from some wet technique, sometimes even liquid glue but usually I use large glue dots, extreme squares by Glue Arts. I also use more adhesive on a panel if heavy layers or bellies will hang off of it.

I buy all of my glue Arts adhesive-glue glider pro and refills (like a mini ATG gun and lots of adhesive refill types including fabric iron on!), ribbon adhesive, mini glue squares (glue dots), extreme glue squares (super sticky mega sizes glue dots amazing!!) etc from Joan's Gardens. She usually sells stuff for slightly less than MSRP, has fabulous customer service AND has a buy one get one sale on Glue Arts adhesives a couple times a year.
