Help please, Ladies! Which adhesive for fun foam?

I hope someone has a good suggestion for me. I've made 12 sets of tile coasters for Christmas gifts, and they turned out great! I thought that was the hard part - wrong.

I'm trying to glue fun foam squares on the back of the tiles, instead of using more expensive cork.

I can't get anything to stick. I've tried Mono-Multi, Elmer's Craft Bond, and even my trusty glue gun.

Anything you know of that will stick fun foam to the back of tiles?

I've used Sobo glue, Aileen's Tacky glue, and E6000 to glue fun foam to things. Are the backs of your tiles bare or are they glazed? White glue should work on bare tiles, but if they are glazed you'll need something like the E6000 or maybe Gorilla glue...

Thanks, Cat. Would you believe I just got back from Joann, and I bought Aileen's Tacky Glue. Glad to know after the fact that I got the right one.

There was an expensive glue by Beacon ($7.99 for sm. bottle) that said it was for fun foam. I am just too cheap to spend that much on glue, lol. So I got the Aileen's instead for $1.39.

The back of my tiles is unfinished, so I bet it will work.

Failing that working, you could try Stick & Stay , By Crafters Companion. A spray adhesive. I just recommended it to someone who wanted to stick something to canvas.

I've used the Aileens Tacky glue and it seems to work very well. I got the backing done on all 14 sets of my coasters. Hooray!

Thanks for posting your results, Bugga. I was planning on making some of these and using up some of my fun foam foam stash, and it never occurred to me to get glue. Have some Tacky glue so I should be good to go.

Karjor, I used a line of glue around the edge of the fun foam, about 1/8" in, and then a couple of strips down the middle. I started out using too much glue, and it "squished" out around the edges, so I was more sparing after that.

I did all mine last night, and this morning they are stuck nicely. I loved that I could match the color of the foam to some of the colors in the coasters, too, as opposed to plain cork.

Have fun with yours. You can make a very nice little gift for very little $$ which I love at this time of the year.

I really like Aileen's tacky glue. It even worked when I glued fun foam to old cds/dvds to make coasters. I made about 50 and the foam didn't come away from any of them. Its nice to know there is a product thats inexpensive and works.

I made alot of coasters for gifts too. I got a roll of adhensive back cork at Michael's for $7.50 with 40% coupon. It really goes a long way. They have 2 rolls. I got the shorter one. It has been so easy to use.
