I always had to talk to my mom the whole time we were going through because she is claustrophobic. There were lots of accidents and traffic associated with them. It is one part of VA that I don't miss at all!!!!
I didn't mind the Cheaspeake Bay Tunnel, I actually liked it and getting out in the middle at the rest stop. I thought that one was pretty neat. Before we moved to FL we used to drive from NJ to FL a couple times a year and we had to go thru a tunnel in VA. I was always OK in them but I don't think we ever hit traffic in the tunnel.
