Default IKEA glass or stainless steel desktop?

I was wondering if anybody has purchased the glass or stainless steel top for their desk or crafting table. I wanted to get some feedback before I go shopping!! My primary use will be for my computer, but I might consider another for crafting.

I googled both types of tops. There were many accounts of tempered glass tables and desks spontaneously exploding apart so I decided to not get one. The comments about the stainless steel tops were that the fingerprints and scratches might drive you nuts, but that the scratches eventually add a nice patina. For now, I opted to get the IKEA Galant corner desk with 31 inch extension in the birch finish.

That's what I have in my craft room. I hadn't considered making an L shape out of two of them. I'm looking for a new desk for my office and want an L shape. I like my craft room desk enough to get another one.

Hi - when I finished my craft room I needed a certain size of craft table so I made mine. I had the local Home Depot cut a piece of melamine to size and I finished the edges with melamine tape. Then I used the 2 Jetmax cubes that store magazines on each corner to hold the table top. I have a pink piece of washable placemat (can't think of the name of it) to protect the areas I get down and dirty with glue! Maybe this would work for you too>
