Today's Technique Challenge is a variation on a couple of past challenges.
We are going to be adding Glitter to our dry embossing.
Supplies needed:
Glitter Glue, Brayer, Embossing folder (see below for substitutions)
Here are the steps:
1) Dry emboss a section of cardstock using embossing folder of your choice.
2) Squeeze/squirt Glitter Glue (I used about a dime-size of Diamond Stickles on my example, but the big store brand craft bottles work also) on another piece of cardstock.
3) Run your clean brayer through the Glitter Glue on the cardstock covering evenly, and then lightly brayer over the embossed piece of cardstock.
4) Let it dry and then trim the embossed piece and add to your card design.
5) Wash your brayer with warm water and a little soap immediately.
Mine took only about 15 minutes to air dry (using a heat gun helps speed, but will curl the edges).
No brayer or glitter glue? Try Versamark and glittery embossing powder. Or make your own! Have an old rolling pin or old pizza roller? Use your imagination in substituting supplies!
My Diamond Stickles picked up leftover pink ink on my brayer (make sure yours is clean!) so that is why my background looks pink! I meant for it to be clear

You can also brayer on glue (something like Elmers will work fine) and sprinkle with dry glitter - a cheaper solution than using your expensive Stickles and washing half of it off your brayer down the sink! Just squeeze a blob of glue onto a craft sheet and run the brayer through to get an even coating. Microfine glitter works really well.
Thanks for the tip Joanne about using other glues and glitter! I can see it being much cheaper and you can tap the excess glitter back into the container after
Love your pink snowflakes! Looks like you did them on purpose, they're so pretty! This is a fun challenge, one I will definitely be playing in. Thanks!

THANKS Joanne, for this helpful "recipe." I have lotsa white glue that dries clear, as well as, lotsa pretty colors of fine and/or microfine glitter. I will surely try this. It'll be worth getting my brayer messy again to save my "precious" Stickles. Heehee!
Judy- great challenge! I opted for embossing powder and Versamark- used 2 stamps from Hampton Arts- and went a little outdoorsy with my woodgrain frame, acorns and twine. Here's Happy Holidays Acorns

Fun technique! I used it for the bg on a CASE of a beautiful card by this week's featured stamper thecircleguru/Allison. Here's my Patchwork Poinsettia CASE
Here is my entry, and I am sooo happy with it. It came together really easy, used an image I had on hand, found some ribbon, embossed and glittered the card and I was done!!! The photo really doesn't do it justice, and you can't see how really pretty the ribbon is. I love this stamp, it stamps so clearly.

I accidentally clicked the wrong link on my tablet and it unsubscribed me from the Try a New Technique thread. I tried to resubscribe but it says the thread is closed. If someone can resubscribe me I would greatly appreciate it! I don't post my creations (can't do so with an iPad) but I love all the techniques and without the email thread I will forget about them. I did follow all the steps to subscribe without posting but it won't let me join. If someone can help I will be really grateful!
This was posted just in time for me to do my Christmas cards. I had researched lots of ideas and ended up deciding to use an embossing folder with glue and glitter! I never thought to use the brayer so once I get the first couple done, I'll be able to join in on this week's challenge! Thanks for the options! Can't wait to try this!
Here is my card for this challenge.
I did not like the first glue I used and had to re-do it.
Thanks for this. I am working on 30 cards that I was stamping with VersaMark and heat embossing for this effect.
This is easier for me as I do not do heat embossing real well! Thanks!
