This is what happens when you ask for donations of old burned out lightbulbs and pringles containers. You get people donating all sorts of stuff (read garbage) that they think "you're so crafty, I know you can do something with this!"
So, our church has recently renovated our rectory, and in the process they installed those 2" faux wood blinds. They "saved" all of the extra slats (there are about 30 or so) for me. At least 5 of them are so excited, and think I will be able to work miracles with these. So, I am requesting help from all of you crafters out there! I know it is not necessarily stamping related, but other than making a picket fence out of them, have no idea of what to do with them. I don't want to disappoint the members of my church who think I will be able to turn "water into wine" with them, but I am at a loss!

thanks for the ideas folks. Unfortunately, they are not real wood, and as such are not very strong and quite flimsy. I think I will try something around a snowman theme as they are already white.
If I manage to make something successfully, I will post a picture.

Too bad, if they were the aluminum type slats, they would make good name tags for plants in the garden.
That was what I was thinking!
How about using them for frames - they'd be handy on those canvasses you can get, particularly if you made them gorgeous first! However, there's probably a limit to how many you can use that way...

I thought I saw somewhere maybe on craftwars or something similar, where they strung up the slats and made like a spiral light or wind chime out of them. Stamped and or painted and glimmered, shimmered and/or glimmered.
A couple of years ago, psychkim posted that she was using short sections of blinds to wind her ribbons for storage. See post #16 in this thread: Ribbon Storage by psychkim at Splitcoaststampers
Are they vinyl? Aluminum? Are they thin enough to die-cut or emboss? You could make some really cool tags or ribbon sliders or other embellishments if they are! If they're not thin enough, you could still do some cutting with strong shears to shape them to make sentiment strips or banners or whatever...
They might make some really fun ornaments too - Santa faces with extra-long beards, fancy icicles (use glitter on them), tall, skinny snowmen or angels (make some tulle wings). They're probably lightweight enough to hang on a tree branch just fine, and you could make them really cute with a bit of cutting and simple painting.

I think this is definitely more a project than anything card related. TBH I helped install some of these blinds in my Aunt's house and debated keeping the spares. If they had been the thin metal/plastic I may have.
I think this calls for thinking outside the box - more like when we see pallets made into pumpkins for Halloween.

Would love to see pallets into pumpkins! Actually, I will try something around a snowman and see what I can come up with. However, I'm not going to bang my head against the wall trying to come up with something. If I do, I do, but if not, I am not going to feel guilty about tossing them, or I will offer them back to those very well-meaning people and tell them to come up with something!

I don't have one but a house we pass on our way to classes has one out. Obviously the slats you have are a smaller scale and lend themselves to an indoor decoration.
