Funny, isn't it, I had several flares of diverticulitis when I was following the restrictions. I was so bad my doc sent me to the number one guy in the area because he thought I should be operated on. the specialist didn't want to do it and he said I could eat whatever I liked, just don't go overboard. I haven't had a flare up since then, maybe 5 or 6 years now. I do have to go for colonoscopies every 3 years but I'd rather suffer thru them than colon cancer.
I think the stress of following the restricted diet combined with the stress of work and life in general was way worse than a handful or strawberries or a sesame seed bun.
