What do you use to clean your scissors after you have used the double-sided red sticky strip .

I also use Goo Gone. It does leave an oily residue, so be sure to wash the scissors with hand dishwashing liquid or something like Fantastik to remove that residue when you're done. It's well worth the trouble.

Rubbing alcohol, goo gone, nail polish remover, acetone, hand sanitizer. Whatever I have that I can find right away. I've even tried mouth wash that had alcohol in it. Didn't really work all that great...

I wipe my scissors down with a baby wipe and then use rubbing alcohol.

Pure acetone (can be purchased at beauty supply shops, i.e. Sally's).

I use pre-packaged alcohol swabs which are quick to grab and are not too juicy. Works great!

Goo-gone or fingernail polish remover or you could consider purchasing those non-stick scissors. I got a pair of Westcott at Staples this summer and I would never give them up! Use them all the time and they are just as good as they say they are! LOL Someone gave me some Fiskars for Christmas last year but I didn't like them as much.

I use the Tim Holtz Fiskar non-stick scissors and can't craft without them. They do occasionally get gunked up, but are very easy to clean - I just use my Dawn dish soap. Some folks don't like the serrated edge of them, but the ease of using them on my arthritic hands balances everything else out.

I use just alittle WD-40; wash with soap and water and then cut through same grit sandpaper to resharpen my scissors if getting slightly dull

I use DH's mineral spirits that he keeps in the garage and I have to use it outside because he worries about the ventilation. I only use paper towels with the spirits and then I have to be sure to put it in a secured garbage bag. Because my dog Newton is the only one tall enough to reach the trash can and is the only one who always gets into it.

I use a product called Un-du. Works like Goo-Gone, but does not leave an oily residu. Also, this product is great for lifting things that have been glued slightly crooked. I have been using it for years and have never had any trouble with it leaving a ring or showing after it is dry. After the paper dries (very quick) you can simply stick it down again, usually without more glue. Also does not harm photos if you decide to move them in scrapbooking. Love this product.

I use the alcohol wipes, too, like ja0337b. They are quick, just enough wet in them to ddo the job, handy to store and use, and they don't leave a residue behind.

I rarely clean mine because I use dedicated 'goo scissors' with Teflon coating by Wescott. Saves me time and lots of annoyance besides the fact that I try to stay away from anything with warnings and cautions on the label. Trying to be green and healthy and all. Carefully clean your skin and toss any tags out right away when using those types of chemicals.

Another vote for Avon Skin So Soft. I have an old box of their towelettes, and I keep them in the craft room. I find that one towelette lasts me at least a year, usually more. (The bath oil on paper towel would work fine too) It takes the gunk off really easily, and it's perfectly safe to handle, no worries about what it might do to your hands. After cleaning with the SSS, then I usually wipe dry with paper towels. If I'm concerned that there might be oil residue, I might wash the scissors in the bathroom with a little soap, but I almost never do that. (SSS keeps them free from rust, and keeps them lubricated as well!)

I can't answer that, but Goo Gone is a citrus solvent, so maybe some type of solvent would do the same thing. If you can call an 800 # try calling 800-255-3924 for information.

I use eucalyptus oil and then soap and water. It works well. Never had a problem with residue. The smell keeps my nasal passages clear as well!

I second the recommendation for Un-du for removing items that have been glued on crooked (or occasionally upside down! LOL) I couldn't make cards or scrapbook without Un-du! I haven't used it for my scissors, but I'm sure it would work perfectly for that as well. For removing the sticky tape residue from my scissors, I typically grab a packaged alcohol wipe - I always keep a box on my scrap/stamp table.

I use the adhesive remover (103684) that Stampin' Up sells. Work great and doesn't leave any residue on my blade that could mar a project. You can get it through my website ( theartfulinker.stampinup.net ).
