Resizing images in a Silhouette?

I have two questions about resizing images in a Silhouette either Cameo or Portrait.

There are a gazillion images in the Silhouette Store. Can all of them be resized?

There are also a lot of square shapes with decorative borders. Can those shapes be changed to be rectangles without distorting the pattern on the edges? I make 5" x 7" cards

The cost of dies is getting out of hand and I am giving serious thought to getting an electronic cutter .

You need to go to the scale sizing section, and click on the box on the left that keeps thing in their original proportion. This is where you can reduce the height and width and keep it orogonal looking.

If I scaled something wouldn't still be a square, just larger or smaller square?

Or could I elongate each side, top and bottom to keep the same pattern but in a rectangle shape?

I found the 52 page user manual on the Silhouette site, but I could not find the answer in there.

you can specify 6.075 inches x 4.075 inches (don't check the box to keep things original in this case). The best videos I found on you tube -

I am not a techie so I felt a tad overwhelmed by the technology available for this hobby. But the more I see what it can do I realize I need to learn to use it.

I will not only save money but have what I want.

My kids aways ask what I would like for My Birthday and Christmas. I think I will ask them for money to buy a Silhouette.

Gale, Thanks for trying this!! That is what I suspected. It is like the MS Punch Around the Page punches. They only work for specific sizes based on the width of repeat of the pattern .

I have made squares with scallops into rectangles, you have to make a couple of the squares, then cut off the left and right sides of both with the knife, you then have the option to make a longer square part into a rectangle by welding the scallops at the point where you want to make a rectangle. You may need to scale the scallops down to fit the size that you need. Hope that helps..
I agree, the dies are so wonderful, but the price isn't!
