Challenge Title: Show Me What You're Made Of
Hostess: Understandblue aka Lydia
Keyword: HYCCT1201A
Date: Monday, October 1st, 2012
Hello and welcome to the third annual Hope You Can Cling To Challenge! We are SO excited to have you here, and so grateful for your participation in this inspiring event! If you've been with us for the first two years of this challenge - welcome back! If you're joining us for the first time - welcome! You will all have such a great time and make some great friends. You inspire us!
Because cancer is such a difficult test of a person, I thought we would begin this challenge by showing the world what we're made of, artistically speaking!
My challenge to you is to make a project that reflects the absolutely essential part of your style - the thing that makes you, YOU. You will journey to your stampy happy place and find that go-to design principle that makes you the happiest and most comfortable.
For some of you, it may be vintage, for some it may be a card that sparkles, or one that makes you laugh. All I want you to do in this challenge is BE YOURSELF and tell me what it is in your description that your stamping style is made of.
For me, I am the happiest with very high contrast, clean designs. My favorite card is a simple card on white cardstock with a WOW punch of blue and yellow, or blue and orange. I like very saturated and surprising color combos in a sea of white. My ideal card would look very much like a stained glass window, which is what I think of when I make cards like my sample, attached. Those vivid colors just make me sigh with happiness.
I can't wait to see what YOU'RE made of!

What a fun challenge!!!! I am cleaning my kitchen but I am going to be thinking on this challenge as I work! I have laughed that I don't have a style YET ....I will be thinking as I work about what kind of card makes me happiest to make!!! Thanks for such a fun challenge to start us off!!
Oh my! Here I just cleaned my room and got out everything PINK and now I have to revert to my normal! Thanks for making this first challenge EASY! Back to the real world!
This should be fun and inspirational! Thanks for all you do!

Hooray! We are started! I am gobbling down my breakfast and going to try and get my morning routine done so that I can maybe make my card before I have to leave for work.
Thanks Lydia for a good start to this year's HYCCT challenges. Like many others, I'm not sure who the real "me" is. I'll be back in a bit when I figure that out. LOL!

Blush, I came home from work and for a huge break with my normal Monday routine I DIDN'T start the housework; I came upstairs and made a card first. But now I'd better do some cleaning...
I'm with those who don't have a personal go-to style, too, but I've done my best.
Will the real KSnurse please stand up?......Ummmm...waiting.....still waiting....hmmmm.. well, if she ever shows herself maybe I'll know what my style is but until then I'll just wing it.....so glad we're starting and I'm off all week....comp time....Yee'Haw!!!

What a fun challenge! I feel like my style is always evolving and I enjoy making a few different types of cards. I have a favorite style that always appeals to me when I see others do it, and that makes me happy to create, so I will start there! Thanks for hosting, Lydia and have fun today ladies! I can't wait to see what everyone makes.
Well Mz. Lydia...great challenge! Being a lover of all styles...CAS, vintage, shabby chic...it's hard to really nail down one particular thing that says "me". I love making my own designer paper and I love distressing...so here's today's style
Well I may have a corneal abrasion and my eye is watering so much I can't see straight. Hopefully the doc will call me back and I will get this resolved so I can get to work on my card! In the meantime I have enjoyed looking at all the cards posted so far. Thirty of them already!!!
It is so great to see the variety of styles, every one of them so pretty. It gets me even more excited for the challenges to come.

So sorry you are having eye problems Tiffany. Mine tear up just thinking about it! I hope you get it resolved really quick so you can participate in HYCCT.
I just took a tour of the gallery so far too, and love what I see. I'm impressed at how some of you can describe your style so clearly. I left love on many cards, but I know I won't be able to keep up with that throughout the month. I remember how long it took me to go through galleries last year!
Yep - I couldn't find a pink Snoopy online so I used a bucket of pink paint in GIMP .
Pink Snoopy just made my day!! So cute!!

The real Ksnurse hasn't stood up yet but I'm such a girly girl that there are flowers and bling on a good number of my cards so I'm guessing that's where I'm at....well, that and tilted off-kilter focals....that about sums up my life.......off kilter but doing it with bling!!
Interesting challenge..... I'll have to sit down and just see what comes out, then. I've changed my style several times over the past 10 years of crafting, so it'll be interesting to see what I decide on tonight. :-)
