Default Copic Coloring on colored cardstock

Has anyone ever tried coloring with Copics on colored cardstock? What are the general guidelines for color selection? I am thinking about a red Santa coat and I am at a loss for shading. I imagine darker shades of red and just highlights?

The only color I've used besides white is ivory (which looks great). However, what you're saying makes sense to me. If you make a card doing this I would like to see it. It might be good for people with few colors...

I would start with a similar shade to your cardstock - you might be surprised at the shading you get. Then go just a little darker with the next marker.

I have colored on colored cardstock and the results are fabulous, but I started with a lighter shade than what I thought I needed.

If you have a scrap of the red that you'll be using, you might trying using different shades on that to see how it turns out.
