I would start with a similar shade to your cardstock - you might be surprised at the shading you get. Then go just a little darker with the next marker.
I have colored on colored cardstock and the results are fabulous, but I started with a lighter shade than what I thought I needed.
If you have a scrap of the red that you'll be using, you might trying using different shades on that to see how it turns out.
