Oh, I leave the chips/taco shells/whatever out of my taco salad completely. I do a bed of chopped romaine, top with fresh tomatoes & cucumber, sometimes a little fresh red pepper or celery if I happen to have it. Top with hot taco meat. Then spoon over that ranch or dill dressing. Munch.
I'll do tacos for dinner one night, then take taco salads for lunch for a couple days. Once in a while I'll have some tostitos on the side, but usually just the salad. I find it generally satisfies my taco cravings without the chips. Lilsis has to have chips with hers, but I find when I do the salad that way, I don't really miss the chips/taco shell.
