What's a Digiscrap Progressive Challenge?
What's a Digiscrap Progressive Challenge?
The object is to complete one page over the course of four weeks by following instructions given in tasks posted each week.
On the first Tuesday of each month, Task 1 will be posted, consisting of instructions for starting a scrapbook page that will then be built upon through additional instructions each week for a total of 4 weeks (Tasks 1-4.)
The idea is to work along with the challenge as the tasks are being announced weekly, each task to be completed & posted prior to starting on the next task. (Once you post a week’s results, you’re finished. Don’t change your work for that week’s task.)
At the end of the fourth week, you should have a completed page!
It’s fine to start late or catch up if you miss a week(s). Just be sure to complete & post each task before you look at or start the next one. It’s more fun that way!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- When uploading your page to your gallery, on the Gallery Image Upload Page, choose the category “Scrapbooking/Digital Scrapping” rather than “Scrapbooking/Progressive Pages,” since that “Progressive Pages” category refers to a method of scrapping different from our progressive challenge.

- Tutorials or Tips - Sometimes there will be a tutorial or tip to help you with a technique or task. Since I use Photoshop Elements, most of my instructions will be for that program. We do have people who work in My Digital Studio (SU’s MDS), My Memories Suite, Storybook Creator (by Creative Memories), PhotoShop, Gimp, Picasa & other programs as well, so feel free to post questions in the challenge thread. I also recommend using your computer’s search engine for sites for your program--there are many great instructional sites out there (both written & video tutorials), and your program’s users manual can be a great resource too.
- Designer Credits - Please be sure to give full designer credits for each step along the way, adding the new credits with each progressive task. (Final page should include all credits, but no links in post, please!) Designers deserve credit for their work, &, in addition, they can help other digiscrappers locate something they like on your page. I’ve found many of my favorite designers through credits on digi pages I’ve liked!

A question was asked:
Q. I have a general question on the progressive challenge. I often change my colors and layouts lots of times before I am finished. (Choosing colors often takes me longer than the layout lol) So after week one, is it acceptable then to change things in later weeks as we progress? Perhaps the strip and photos look better vertical vs horizontal, or the color is wrong for the photos.
A. I am a "changer," also (one of the reasons I like digi), but for this challenge, the real point of the challenge is to stick with your original design and not changing it once you commit. The following week, you do only additions, no changes to last week's. That's why we post our progress each week--to keep us "honest"! Yes, this may be a little "challenging" to some of us, but, after all, it's a CHALLENGE! lol
P.S. If you really feel a change is in order, do it! Just try to stay as close to your original page as possible.

That would be wonderful. I think you'll enjoy it. The new challenge for October starts on October 2 in this forum thread: Digital Scrapbooking - Splitcoaststampers
Hope to see you there!
