My good friend Sherry used to participate in swaps all the time, but quit for exactly that reason - she was spending enormous amounts of time and energy (plus the expense of materials and mailing) and receiving crap in return (sorry - that's an accurate description). I've really enjoyed the "virtual swap" with others here on SCS, making Christmas cards for weekly challenges and posting them to share, rather than making one for everyone and sending them around. It's fun to see what everyone comes up with, and it doesn't matter at all if some of the cards are less than spectacular - totally takes the pressure off!
