Default Male themed cards

So I went to the gallery and found a section titled male themed birthday cards (or something like that) but most are not male cards at all. Granted I didn't go through every page but after quite a few I gave up since the cards were so feminine mostly. So please share your cards for males of all ages. I'm in a rut and need help for cards for men and boys in my life. I've used my sports stamps so much lately that I'm sick of them. So please inspire me.

Ps I can't post any I've done since I just use an iPad and you can't upload with an iPad. ::

So sorry about that - that category is looking for the term masculine OR birthday so it's including both. You might have better luck with just the masculine category in terms of designs for men then you can customize one with birthday info... Hope this helps..

I had the same problem yesterday. Was looking for Thanksgiving cards and there were Christmas, birthday etc. scattered through. If I remember right there was even a St. Pats card too. I gave up also.

I don' know how to post but I can make suggestions. I make LOTS of male/guy cards. I use plaid or stripe patterned paper. Layers using colors from patterned paper. For a focal image I use cars, trucks, boats and lighthouses. Deer work, too.I have done coffee mugs with initials, ducks, hot air balloons and kites. Lots of darker blue, brown, green and red. Hope this helps.

Hi Lydia! That's where I was yesterday. I got to page 3 a gave up. There are several Christmas Cards in there, a princess card, Kittie 747 Pink Poinsettias and Bird house. All on page 3. Here's a link to the St. Pats' card, at least that's what it looks like to me. It's on page 2 along with an ornament card.

pinch me by Laura ODonnell - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I have found in the past when looking at different Occasions Galleries, there are cards in them that make no sense to me why they are there. Don't know how they end up in some of galleries they are in but they do.

What I really need to do is order a specific Thanksgiving stamp set but have not found one that floats my boat...LOL

Now to go look at my stamp inventory and see what I might be able to use.

Thank you for the links. I will check those out too. It was just so frustrating since I saw the title and thought "aha, this will get me out of my rut" and finding all kinds of girly girl cards instead. Loving the Fairy Cardmaker blog. Tons of great ideas.

I like to make cards for the men in my life or for men I know by incorporating their likes, or favorite colors etc. Today I posted a card I made a card for my FIL who loves pocket watches and gave one to my hubby, so I made him this card:

Winnie's Inky Fingers: Happy 87th Birthday, Cal!

I made this for a man who built a house for his sister and she wanted a personalized card for him

Winnie's Inky Fingers: Not Bob, But Lee The Builder

I made this for my brother (I forgot his birthday..ugh..)

Winnie's Inky Fingers: Well, I'll Be Dammed!

Here is one for a baby boy

Winnie's Inky Fingers: Welcome, Eli Patrick!

For my football loving dad's birthday

Winnie's Inky Fingers: God, Family, Country and The Pittsburgh Steelers

I hope this helps. Some other themes I use are: tools, other sports, fishing, lighthouses, nautical, nature themes like trees etc. I use a lot of earthtones, sometime sheet metal etc.

I have lots of whimsical doggie stamps, so that's what the guys in my life usually get!

I use masculine colors, plaids, stripes, etc. and try to put a funny verse in them, sometimes with my computer.

My favorite these days is a cute dog on the front, a happy birthday sentiment, and inside - "A tail has been wagged in your honor."

And just recently, my son-in-law had one of those milestone birthdays. I used the verse - "Your birthday is no day to feel old" on the front. Then inside, "Wait, yes it is."

Love this! - will have to remember this for my son-in-law's next birthday. And I also use dogs for masculine cards. Diane

Have you looked at the Stampscapes range of stamps? They all make great cards for men, especially if they are the outdoorsy type. Or maybe have a look at Coronado Island stamps, lots of real animal images there, wolves, lions, cheetahs, etc. Oriental themed cards go well for men too, and Steampunk or some of the Vintage 'collage' type stamps. I find that colour has a lot to do with it too- 'male' looking colours,( not just blue), can make all the difference.Brads, clock/watch parts, and ribbon knotted rather than tied in a bow all work well.HTH

For Thanksgiving ideas, I have used cornacopias, turkeys (there are lots to choose from), autumn leaves and scarecrows. Pumpkins, too. I like a nice sentiment.

I often go for nature, outdoorsy or grape images (several of the menfolk I make for share an interest in wine) when I make masculine cards. I seem to err on the side of clean and simple - this may be partly because if my husband makes a spontaneous comment on any of my creations, it tends to be the CAS ones so I think of that as something that appeals to the male psyche!

I've attached a few so you've got something to look at! The first two are Cornish Heritage Farms stamps and are not ones the new owners have re-released so those would be harder to track down. The grapes are a retired SU! set (Gorgeous Grapvine), the birds are Crafty Secrets and the seahorse and fish are Darkroom Door.

I don't make a whole lot of masculine cards, so when I do I tend to put it in my keywords- here's what comes up: Cook22 ~ masculine cards
I see quite a lot of motorbikes, but also wild animals and lighthouse/sea themes. I like to use distressing techniques, no ribbon because DH doesn't like it. Brads or jumbo eyelets are good, though! And I like to use embossed foil, it adds a great guy look! Maybe I've just inspired myself for my FIL's upcoming birthday, LOL.

Cook22,: My hubby is funny. He looks at my cards and if I don't put a ribbon or a bow on it, he asks "Where is the ribbon??" I think he likes them even more than me..Funny...

Loving all the ideas. Like the idea of making the ribbon more masculine. I needed something extra and tried to add ribbon but everyone that saw it told me it was way too feminine looking. Tonight I must get a card made so it can hit tomorrows mail and you all have given me great ideas.

Keep the ideas coming. I would love to see even more.

I make quite a lot of masculine cards for all age groups. Here are a few which I hope helps a little. Some cards with dogs (alot of my male relatives love dogs):

CAS Birthday Celebration by JoBear2 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
F4A52 C4C75 Sooooo happy it's your birthday! by JoBear2 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
F4A17 Oh boy - dog food again!! by JoBear2 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

This next one is for a new home but you could use a similar image for a birthday card: Welcome to your new beachfront home! by JoBear2 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

And another 2 with a seagull:
WT281 Birthday wishes from a friendly seagull! by JoBear2 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
F4A66 A nautical birthday! by JoBear2 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I have other masculine cards in my gallery - click on the link under my name.

Plain twill can be good on masculine cards where you need something extra but ribbon's a bit frou-frou! Knotting it rather than tying a bow is a good way to go. Natural raffia is good too and pairs up well with jute twine for a rustic feel.

Thanks for the twill idea. You're so right, sometimes I want to add something but don't want it to head into girly girl. Need to pick up some more masculine raffia, twine or something. Thanks. You are all so amazing. I learn so much from popping in here.

Joanne, these are just dazzling. I always enjoy your creations.

Wonderful examples. This week I need several manly cards. Excited to try some of your ideas. I found I do own a ship, motorcycle, skateboard, trees, pocket watch, and a couple other tamps that I think will do well. Need to check for some darker papers and masculine trim. Like the metal look several have used. Is that just foil from the kitchen or something special?

For example, the St. Patty's Day card you found in the Thanksgiving Occasions section had this description: "made with the Sweet Stamp Shop's Sweet Alpha Doodles and Thanksgiving Owl-Fits."

As you can see, the word "Thanksgiving" was in the description -- and it wound up in the Thanksgiving Occasions gallery.

Bombshell Stamps has a ton of stamps that are perfect to use for cards for the men/boys in our lives. Vintage pin-up art, motorcycles, hot rods, Western themed, and nautical too.

Check the "company gallery" and you're sure to find lots of inspiration using these fabulous images!

Yes - I think it doesn't just search the keywords but also searches the write-up! Some of the things that turn up in some searches make me giggle.
