I'd like a white (and actually a black as well) that are comparable to PTI's paper.
I LOVE Neenah Solar White and would buy that, but I can't find the base weight online with affordable shipping. (anyone have a source there... and I'm good!!!)
I have tried Gina K's paper but it cracked no matter how I did or didn't fold/score it. I think it's our extreme dryness here (4-7% humidity usually).
SU's isn't an option. It doesn't have enough substance.
I'm isolated in the Mojave Desert, 90 miles from the nearest town and not likely that they'd have Neenah. I am excited to find out about Inspiration Emporium!
The layering weight for Neenah was not stiff enough for me. It was better than SU but more like Georgia Pacific as far as weight. (Nicer of course, just weight wise)
My Favorite Things has great card bases! Here is a link to the white....it looks like it has a slub in it but I have ordered it and it is just as white and
nice as PTI! They have tons of colours!
I can only imagine that the Gina K issue is only due to our nearly non-existent humidity. I think if I kept it in a humidor, we wouldn't have trouble. Alas, my husband wouldn't go for several hundred dollars for a paper humidifier.

Does the cardstock crack even when you score it? Wow, it can be really humid here in Missouri so I haven't had that problem. I have just the opposite problem and have to keep a dehumidifier around my paper!

Hi,
We stand behind our product 100% and we would be MORE than happy to have you return the card stock to us and we will ship you a new pack. We will refund the shipping amount that you spend to get the product back to us so don't worry about any costs involved. We will also pay to ship you a new pack. If the issue remains, it may be a humidity issue however, we want to make sure that the product isn't defective first. I am sure by now we are well into a new batch of our card stock so you can compare.
Contact [email protected] to get the exchange started. (We will be back in the office on Tuesday.)
The only way to fold our card stock is by scoring it first due to the weight. And when you score it, score it a couple of times and then fold away from the embedded score line so there is a little hump inside the card. Scoring stretches the fibers and allows for folding without cracking. If you fold with the well inside the card, it won't prevent cracking.
So sorry you are having issues- let's see if we can get that fixed for you and the other customer who posted here as well.
Hugs,
Gina K.

I am very impressed by this. What customer service! I wish more companies would be as forthcoming and generous. :-)
I like the weight and feel of the Stampin' Up! Naturals White and Naturals Ivory. If you need more of a stark white, Stampin' Up!'s Shimmery White is a great weight and is GORGEOUS!!! Seriously, so so pretty with a shimmer that is awesome. Plus it looks great as a focal point watercolored too.
I too am impressed with Gina K's customer service. I'm off to order more and try again. I did score as you said, but it's always possible I just got a batch with less natural moisture in fibers when making it. I certainly was not complaining about your company's products. I LOVE them. Wanted to love the white, but didn't. I'll try again. Last time I used the paper for other things. It certainly didn't go to waste!

I'm so glad you posted this, Gina. OP, I made birth announcements with both weights last year, with the heavier weight as the card base. They all cracked and it's humid here. I used my scissors to cut off the extra bits to hide the cracks. However, I didn't score them. Next time I will! I'd hesitated to buy more white due to cracking, but now that I know that I can prevent it by scoring, I'll just do that instead. Gina, your paper is fabulous, so I'm glad to know that I can prevent the cracking my just scoring first.

If you do place an order, send an email to customer service and tell them I said to send a folded white card base to show you what I mean. And we can also include a pack of the card stock for you to compare- but they won't know to do that unless you email them and tell them.

Oh yes, the scoring makes a huge difference. I would not be able to even fold our white card stock without scoring first. Good idea about the scissors but what a pain. I'm sorry you had to do that. :(

Ordered last night (and botched it and managed to double order!) and it's all good. The last time I saw you show excellent customer service (unrelated to me), I ordered then too. Anytime a company impresses me, I like to do what I can to show appreciation.
If I thought you had a defective product, I might be more willing to ask for a favor on that, but since I truly believe the issue is with our dryness, I'm thrilled to try again on my own dime.

Oh and I don't think you were complaining. I'm glad you posted it so we could share some ideas together! Even if it is a climate issue, others may not be scoring correctly so this kind of info helps everyone. XOXO

I, too, live in a very dry climate. I had great difficulty with the 120 lb. paper cracking even if I folded it with the scoring impression on the outside and scored it 2-3 times. I kept experimenting on more scoring passes and have finally discovered that if I score it 10-12 times, it does not crack. I like the weight of the 120 lb. for card bases and know all GinaK products have great quality so am glad it has worked. Hope this helps someone. Thank you for the excellent consumer service, Gina!
I have been buying Gina K cs for awhile now and have never had a problem. You do have to score good cause it is heavy weight. The 120 is so good for one layer cards cause you can stamp, color even with Copics and it won't show on the other side. Awesome!! :p
A Tim Holtz tip on embossing paper, but I don't know why it wouldn't work with creasing cardstock. Spray very lightly with alcohol. Alcohol dries almost instantly, so doesn't really get things wet. I keep some in a mini mister, and give the cardstock a quick spray when using a detailed embossing folder. Run it thru, and it looks great. Wouldn't hurt to try it.
I agree that Papertry Ink's is excellent paper. I just do not want to purchase it anymore.
I got mine from MFT and my Neenah from one company. The Neenah with shipping is pretty expensive, but we'll see. I'm going to compare again when Gina K's new one gets here and see how it goes. I did this once before, fell in love with PTI and now I have to start all over again.
Their customer service issues have never affected me, but I just don't like being dependent upon a company whose track record is less than even mediocre. So, I'm weaning myself off them.
I got the My Favorite Things paper today. Sugar something I think. Um yeah. That'll go in the "Sure you can use that paper" pile. Not what I wanted.
The Neenah I'm confused about. I thought I got the 110 or 100 whichever it was, but it feels like 80 lb. It's not thick enough. Praying Gina K works.
