Default Tombow mishap - so annoyed!

Glued together a card where I had to use Tombow Multi (in the white bottle with the green caps) on several pieces because the positioning was fiddly and I had to be able to shift them a bit once they were down if necessary.

Some glue got on the outside of the pieces here and there, so now those tiny spots are sticky. Is it curtains for this card? Will the Tombow ever dry or will the card now stick to any envelope I put it in?

What a drag!

Do you have an adhesive eraser? This inexpensive tool is a must have in my stamping world....I'm just a bit messy ;);) Seriously, it takes the stickies right off without messing up the cs behind it, especially the extra glue from my Xyron but I think I've used it on other glues as well.

Yes, and I worked away some of the glue but can't seem to get it all. I don't want to over work or I'll start degrading the paper.

Maybe it needs to dry longer? It's been an hour or so.

It is meant to stay tacky after it dries (a two-way glue). Do you have an anti-static pouch or powder brush? A fine dusting may do the trick without being visible.

I seem to have better luck with a really clean new-ish adhesive square and do a kind of "press and flick" motion...lifting instead of rubbing.

I just got two new squares and I think I'm throwing the old one away, because the new ones work SO much better!

I would let it dry a bit more and then carefully go at it again with the adhesive eraser. I have always been successful with removing a little oops. It is a good reminder thought with the Tombow Multi glue a little dab will do ya!

Yes, lesson well learned! I have worked on it by pressing and flicking and most of it is gone. There are still some tacky spots but if I send to someone who lives locally, maybe the card won't stick to the envelope too badly.

Of course I opened it up and there was a small stray mark on the reverse of the FRONT inside the card, where the insert won't cover it. ??? I guess I'll just be creative and stamp something over it.

It's been one of those days.

Really, sometimes I wish I could hire someone to glue my cards together. It seems to be where I run afoul most often. Right at the end, when you're all happy and satisfied with the design and feel all the work was worth it.

I had a friend over stamping on Tuesday and she was squeezing the glue on the back of a flower and looked up to talk to someone else in the room...still squeezing glue.....when she looked back she had a quarter size dab of glue on the flower. It was bigger than some sizes of the flower...It was such a hoot...we were all in stitches...I mean I think it would have been a good idea to stop squeezing if you are not watching...It still cracks me up. Love the Mono Multi in small dots....
blessings.

Thanks for getting me through this crisis, ladies! I have come to depend on the wonderful community here for expertise, advice, and emergency support when I do something dumb and don't know how to get myself out of it. It's amazing, how quickly you all come to my rescue!

And I do have a sign in my studio that I made for myself a while back which reads:

But Did You Learn Something From It?

To remind myself that even my mistakes have value.

Default Glue issue

YES you can save the card!! Mono multi dries sticky, which makes it wonderful for many different techniques. However, when you over glue (trust me, we all do it!) and a little bit seeps out, this can be a problem. To neutralize the stickiness, simply brush on a little body powder with a soft, clean brush. Viola! Stickiness gone! I use a scented powder so I get the extra bonus of subtly scenting my card!

I usually have a small shaker of cornstarch in my craft room for this very reason. If its empty (or under a pile of scraps), I use my embossing buddy on the stray glue to take away the stickiness.

I was going to suggest this too. I use my adhesive eraser and my powder. I have a klutzy problem. Both those items have saved me more times than I count of crazy glue mishaps.

I have an embossing buddy and I tried it on the last little sticky areas and all is well.

Yay! Card completely saved.

This is my solution, too! The Mono Multi Glue is my go-to adhesive so I keep a small container of cornstarch and a tiny paint brush nearby. I simply dip the brush in the cornstarch and brush over any stray stickiness. Works beautifully!
