I wanted to add that no matter your climate using a liquid glue is really necessary for securing down card stock that has been run through an embossing folder. I was making a bunch of retired card fronts from SU! Convention swaps into full cards and realized that most of the people who had dry embossed with the Big Shot used some sort of tape (ATG, SNAIL, & I think one was even scor tape) to adhere them. It wasn't a problem to just pull that piece off and in some cases, it was already coming off. Just thought I'd mention as not a lot of people think of that!
I use my ATG on embossed cardstock all the time and it never falls apart. I've had some cards for several years and they are still holding strong. Too bad some of the cards you got fell apart. But, I just wanted to point out that ATG ( at least in my experience) works just fine on embossed stuff. I even use it for all my 3-D items and it works great!
