Alphabet Challenge - Round 4
HELLO & WELCOME TO THE WEEKLY
ALPHABET CHALLENGE - ROUND 4
Whether you are a beginner or a pro when it comes to stamping and/or challenges you are going to love participating in the Alphabet Challenge, it's as easy as ABC. Come on in and join us; I'm sure you will be addicted in no time. ;)
Before I explain how the Alphabet Challenge works I would like to thank each and every player from round 3; no matter if you played one week or 26 weeks I appreciate you helping to make round 3 fun and successful. "THANK - YOU ROUND 3 PLAYERS!!!!!
I would also like to give a special "THANK YOU" as well as a BIG HUG to DCINKIT for stepping in as hostess while I was not available. THANK YOU DIANE!!!
Ok stampers, this is how the Alphabet Challenge works: Wednesday of each week I will post a weekly letter then I will challenge you to make a card (or other stamping project) making sure to add at least 1 item that starts with the current week's letter.
This time around the letters are being given in random order. If you would like to take a week and pick the weekly letter please let me know.
For Example: Let's say the current week's letter is "L" You could make a card with "L"ace on it or use "L"avendar paper or even stamp a picture of a "L"ady. Whatever you think of; it's your creation and the sky's the limit. You can use 1 item or as many items as you wish, how many you choose is up to you.
Once you are done making your card please make sure to upload it to your gallery and then post a link to it in the Alphabet Challenge thread. (If you need help with this please feel free to ask or pm FMcrafter)
Each week there will be a KEYWORD please make sure to put the keyword in the space provided while uploading your card. This is how all of the cards made for Round 4 of the Alphabet Challenge end up in the same gallery.
There you have it, by following these instructions you just finished the weekly Alphabet Challenge. It's as easy as A B C.
Now I promised that Round 4 would have something different, something fun; so how about an
ALPHABET DARE CHALLENGE This is an extra challenge you do NOT need to participate in the "DARE" challenge if you do not want to.
Here is how it works: Once you have made your card and posted it into the Alphabet Challenge thread you can "Dare" a fellow SCSr to make a card using an item of your choice. If they ACCEPT your "Dare" and post their card that has the item you chose then you will have to send them the card you made for that week.
Each time you give a "Dare" you will receive 1 point. Each time you complete a "Dare" you will receive 1 point. If you are not being "Dared" that often you can either call out for a "Dare" (Dare me if you Dare) or make sure you are giving those "Dares" out. You can give out more than one "Dare" per letter. Just remember you have to send each person that accepts a "Dare" from you a card.
At the end of round 4 the person that has the most points will receive a "Special Prize". So c'mon get out there and hand out those "Dares".
Post #2 will show how many points you have. If you notice that I missed giving out a point to you or someone else please let me know.
Thank you so much for participating in Round 4 of the Alphabet Challenge. REMEMBER: You are welcome to come and chit chat with us anytime. We promise we will not corrupt you. ;) The most important thing we MUST do in the Alphabet Challenge is to HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!
If you have any questions about any part of the Alphabet Challenge please feel free to pm me with your questions or check the list of FAQ's below to see if your question is answered.
1. Do I have to play every week in order to join this challenge? NO
2. If I miss a letter do I have to make it up? NO
3. May I ask someone to take the Alphabet Dare challenge that has never participated in the Alphabet Challenge before? If so, how do I ask them to take the dare? YES & You can send them a private message inviting them to take the Alphabet Dare Challenge.
4. Can I dare more than 1 person? YES but keep in mind that if they accept your dare and complete it you will have to send each of them a card.
5. How will I know if that person accepted my challenge? When you send out a dare it is IMPORTANT that you let me know the person's SCS name and the item that you dared them to use. You can pm me this information.
6. Is there a time limit on posting your card for each letter? No there is no time limit on the regular weekly letter cards. However, there is a time limit on any dares. You will have until Friday of the following week to post your dare card. That gives you a couple extra days after the week is up just in case you should need them.

Each week I'm amazed at the amount of words that you come up with that "b"egin with the weekly letter. Therefore, I'm looking forward to seeing your creation. Happy Stamping!!!!!

Hi Dani and all the wonderful Alphabet people!
I have really missed all of you. I didn't do round 3 because I just didn't seem to have the time. (Mostly because I was volunteering in a kindergarden class and going there 1 or 2 mornings a week.) It was a lot of fun.
I am going to get started on the challenge this week and see if I can keep up, mainly just because you are all such a fun group!

Hello ladies, FM that is an awesome self challenge. I don't use enough digis. Marney, what an awesome job on your "B" card. I love the items you chose to put together. I left some love for you. Great job!!!! Muscrat....to B or not to B...too cute. So...what did you come up with? And Montana, WELCOME BACK!!!! You have been missed. The group hasn't changed much except it's grown and Lynn is naughty even more cuz now she has instigators. lol....I am glad you are going to play in Round 4 with us. I look forward to seeing your creations.
Ladies, just incase the instructions for the "Alphabet Dare Challenge" were confusing I want to give you an example of how it works. Please let me know if you can think of a better way to write the instructions.Ok once you have posted your card for the week. (I will use this week as an example) you can then "Dare" someone to the Alphabet Dare Challenge by saying to them (here in the thread or in a pm) "I am participating in the "Alphabet Dare Challenge" so I am "Daring" you to make a card with a "B"luetooth on it. (the item you choose must start with the current week's letter.) If they accept and complete your dare then you have to send them the card you made for the week's letter. In this case the "B" card you made. If they reject your dare then you get a prize from me for giving out a dare. I am keeping a list of people that have their dares accepted and completed and the person with the most at the end of round 4 will get a "Special" prize.
I am trying to think of something different to do if that person rejects your dare, however, I haven't come up with anything as of yet. Also, if the person you are daring is not a "regular" in the thread you should attach a link to the thread in your dare.
Does this make sense?

I have a question about card swaps. Maybe it's a dumb question, but here it goes. What do you do with all the cards you receive in a card swap? I can see the desire to see all the cards and inspect how they are made and get ideas from them. But then what?
Recently, I participated in a card kit swap and that was neat. I prepared 6 of the same card kits and I received 5 different card kits back. I've been making cards from the kits and enjoying it. Lots of fun to try out new images, papers & accents. Since I made the card, I feel comfortable sending it to someone else.
So, what do you do with cards you receive in a swap?

WELCOME VICKIE!!! I am so glad you are joining us. If you have any questions at all feel free to ask. I can not wait to see your very first Alphabet Challenge card.
Diane, you can use them as BRAK cards. Or you can hang on to them for future use like if you have a birthday you forgot about and you don't have time to make a card. Things like that. Because I am so compulsive about organization; I keep mine in drawers grouped by which swap they are from. I have a "Glossery" of what kind of cards are in each swap and where in the swap file I can find them. For example: Let's say one of the cards I received from a past swap (Let's say the Vintage Swap) is a "Just thinking about you" card. Now let's say I am looking for a card to send to my best friend; I go to my glossery and see that in drawer 3 the fourth set of cards in are the Victorian Swap cards and the 7th card in is a "Just thinking about you" card, bingo there's the card I want to send out.
I do it this way because I want to know which swap my cards came from.
I know it may sound confusing but once you see it it really does make sense.

Diane, I also forgot to mention, I bet if we look we can find someone with-in SCS that accepts cards so that they can send them on to some kind of organization that needs cards. If you'd like to join the swap but you do not want to keep the cards, let me know and I will find someplace for you to send them to.

Diane, I go through my stash of swap cards and extras I have made and give them to my mom. So she can usually find a card for any occasion. I sometimes use a swap card myself, they are so awesome. I use swap cards myself if they are going to someone I don't really know. For friends and family, I like to send ones I made myself. But I have CASE'd swap cards to use!

I have another question and I know when I hear the answer I will say " Oh I knew that". What are BRAK cards?
Welcome Vickie. These girls will keep you on your toes and we do have to watch out for that naughty step, although Lynn seems to occupy it a lot..lol.
Diane- I know I had the same question.. I do seem to stock pile so many cards at times.. Last Christmas time I bundled some up in packets of 4-5 cards, tied a bow around them and took them to the Salvation Army store. They were very pleased and they sold quickly as gifts apparently. I think I will do that again.... These were cards that I had made as it was before I was involved with SCS.

Thanks for the welcome and for the heads-up on who's naughty...most of the time! Some things just never change! hehehe LOL
I donate a lot of my swap cards to our church and the churches that several friends go to, to the card ministry (I think a lot of churches have someone who sends out cards to members for birthdays, anniversaries, get well, sympathy, etc) One year I created several bundles of 5 assorted cards with envelopes tied a ribbon around each bundle and donated to my friend's church bazaar.

Behold, these are such wonderful ideas about what to do with Swap Cards. Thanks ladies! I always wondered what people do with all the cards!
As I said, I just did a swap for card kits. I would do that again! It was great. If you hear of a open card kit swap, let me know!
I'll have to think about doing a card swap. Thanks again for all the ideas!!
I'm signing off for the day. Have a great day! Be happy!

I think I will do that again.... These were cards that I had made as it was before I was involved with SCS. |
You could also put those cards aside. save them up, & send to Cards for Troops or a group like that.

I store mine up....add to them and send them as gifts to my non crafty friends. They have gotten so happy at getting them that I now get requests. Any odds and ends can also go to the troops....last year I sent my friend a box...maybe 30 cards...she kept the ones she wanted and brought the text go the church...they sold like hot cakes...especially the john deer!!!! She lives in the prairies!!!
