I'm rather new to MFT dies and so I am not sure what the warranty covers. Jody told me it is okay to remove the plastics. Please check with MFT to see what the warranty covers.

MFT will stand behind the products if they are defective. Removing the plastic or snapping the dies apart (for the sets that are hooked together with thin metal) dies not void the warranty.
I do the exact same thing you listed above.
