Default Technique Tuesday {4-17-12} - One Color Cards

Hi everyone and welcome to this week's Technique Tuesday!! Before I share today's technique and card sample I have a confession to make....It slipped my mind that today's post was technique driven and I instead created a challenge based card. However, the more I thought about my card the more I realized this is also a great technique! Creating a card using only white cardstock!

Last week I was greatly inspired by Ali Watson's (Albongo) gallery. She is a master of using mostly white on her cards. And I adored this sample, which inspired the card I ended up creating.

As I thought about how I wanted to create my card a few items kept coming back to mind about how to create something visually appealing using only white cardstock. Here are my tips:
  1. Add dimension using foam tape (I use up to three different thicknesses when applying foam tape so that I can achieve a variety of layers)
  2. Use embossing folders to emboss a design on your card base or on just a portion of cardstock, as I did on my card.
  3. Use punches to create fun edges.
  4. Use some of the fabulous new dies that are on the market! The stars were just perfect for my card.
  5. Add just a hint of bling with a few rhinestones.
  6. Add just a splash of color by using a brightly colored ribbon or flower.
  7. When adding color to an all white card, add just one extra color.
  8. Use textured white cardstock. (Bazzill makes some amazing textured paper!)
  9. Use a coloring medium to color an outline image and use that as your main design on the card.
And the most important tip? Have FUN!!!

Today I'm challenging each of you to create an all white (or mostly all white) card and then post a link here in this thread to your gallery so we can share in your creation!

Here's my card! Enjoy!
