Default stamps stuck to acrylic backing they came on

Help---my stamps have stuck to the backing they came on. Some of them can be peeled off (off their foam backing) but most are stuck fast! Any idea how I can get them off so I can use them? thanks in advance Katie

Try putting the whole sheet in the freezer for 15 minutes or so.

I had one set of clear stamps that did that and I ripped one in half trying to get it off the sheet. If the freezer trick doesn't work, what I did was cut around the stamp on the backing sheet and put some Aileen's TIO&O on the backing sheet and now it clings to my block.

Does this sticking thing happen often with clear stamps?

I bought a super cheap clear alphabet set at Big Lots and the first letter I tried to take off ripped beyond use. I've never had this problem with my CTMH clear stamps. I don't know if it's a stamp problem or a backing problem.

These are My Daily Bread stamps---purple rubber with gray foam backing. They are great stamps---very clear and nice, but I can't get them off the backing! Only had that happen once to a clear stamp and it was one with much narrow spaces on it.

I would contact the company and let them know about the problem.

I read a post somewhere and the person recomended taking off and putting the stamp back on the plastic a couple times as soon as you get it home and that can help. I'm always so careful the fist time I take those off the plastic.

Have you tried goo-gone or adhesive remover? Also WD-40 has helped me out of many a jam. Just might work. Good luck.

Clear Stamps that are made from materials other than Clear Photopolymer are generally much harder to get off the transfer sheet. Most of the stamps made in the USA are photopolymer (which is a material designed for ink transfer, so perfect for stamps) and will generally require just a small amount of effort to remove it the first time, then should come off easily after that. You can't always tell what the material is when you are buying the stamps, but the easiest way is to look for the made in the USA wording (or look under the FAQ page when buying online).

Sounds like this one is the from a red rubber stamp that has a tacky foam attached so you can use it on a clear block.

There are a lot of other countries that manufacture quality clear stamps - not just the USA. There are also a lot of cheap silicone/acrylic stamps made in the USA along side those made in other countries. The easiest way to tell if your clear stamp is made from photopolymer resin is to smell it - it will have an unpleasant chemical smell. Clear stamps made from other materials won't have much smell, if any.

OH it is so disappointing to sit here and see ALL the BEAUTIFUL stamps that I went out and purchased when I 1st started stamping...I don't have the original packaging anymore when I 1st stored them into CD cases. Now I store them in the DVD cases from SU...The "above mentioned brands" have caused the cases to warp so badly that the cases can not close nor can they stand straight.

Terrible! Has anyone else had this trouble with the SU cases? I've been buying them and gradually moving all of my clear stamps for better organized storage, but now I'm wondering if this is a huge mistake and waste of money!:(

Loved reading this thread. I am reorganizing my stamps and dies and came across large cd cases for long spellbinder dies. (tapeonline.com) But, then I was told don't put my clear stamps in there without the sheets they came with. Well, some of those sheets are tiny or too big for the cd so I want to make it all nice and put in ones that would fill up the whole space. I just don't know what kind of plastic sheets to buy for the project or where to find them. Do transfer sheets from Office Max work? Also, I thought the rubber stamps with foam backing would be just fine put in the cd's as they are. Does anybody know anything about this? Thanks for helping!

I like to put a piece of wax paper under my clear stamps for storage. Having had a big problem removing them to begin with..... so far no problems.

This happened to me recently when I purchased some Stampendous cling rubber stamps on clearance from an online retailer. I suspect they were sitting on their shelves for a long time because when I got them they were permanently fused to the clear decal with the picture of the stamp image on it. Not the plastic backer, but the decal they adhere to the plastic. So rather than unmounting it from the foam, I simply trimmed the decal and just applied Tombow mono multi to it and let it dry. Now they look just like the SU cling stamps with the stamp image on the foam, just stickier.

Are you storing clear stamps or rubber stamps in the SU cases? I think the SU cases are only for rubber stamps. I haven't had any problems with mine so far. I store my clear stamps in the hard plastic cases that Flourishes sells.

I cut a lot of mine out with the stamp and stuck backing too. I put tac it over and over on some and some I use with an acrylic block and poster tape, just like I do some of my ums.
They work just fine and I put all of the flowers together, butterflies, etc, and I store them in su cases. I find I use them a lot more.

Default great idea

I wish I had know about this earlier. I could have done that. I managed to peel the rubber part off the foam part, but still can't figure out a way to use them. Thanks for the replies, all of you! kcb

as far as i know, you should not put cling mounted stamps directly onto CD cases as the cling deterioarates. you can however put some laminated card showing hte stamped images into your CD cases and add your stamps to that.

Smile clear stamps in cd cases

I have put some of my stamps on wax or parchment paper - whatever I grab first, and so far there is a little bit of sticking, but nothing serious. I have had some this way for only about a year.
