Smile Vagabond machine

I am thinking about purchasing the Tim Holtz Vagabond machine and would welcome comments from others who have purchased it. Is it better than using the Big Shot? I know it's expensive, so I want to be sure that the quality is worth the price.

I got it for Christmas as a gift. I do like it. It is easy to operate, have a Big Shot, so can use the same plates with both machines. If you buy the 'V' and want to cut the thin steel dies (Spellbinders, Framelits, etc.), you will need to 'Solo Thin Die Adapter', if you can find one. From what others have said, it is very quiet in comparison with other electric-it 'purrs'. You can use most other dies and embossing folders as long as they are not wider than about 6". The largest Grand Spellbinders and the Big Shot Pro dies will not fit.

Default Vagabond machine

I received my "V" I believe last month and love it! I did a lot of research on it before deciding to purchase it. It doesn't take up much room and the motor is quiet. There are a few videos on you tube that I also watched before deciding to purchase. I'm glad I bought it and have no regrets! It embosses beautifully & does a great job cutting the dies.

Good luck!

Thank you both for your comments. I'm definitely going to purchase one, plus the solo thin die adapter, as I love to use Spellbinder's Nestabilities.

Hi Terry! You won't regret this purchase! Oh My Crafts has it for $189.00 no tax, and maybe free shipping, but not positive on that one!

Oh My Craft often has an additional percentage of if your order is over a certain amount. Don't know if that is the case today.

JoAnn has the 'V' on sale for $179 plus an additional 20% off your total purchase with this code PVZ78. (that means a total of 60% off since the machine is already 40% off) You have until Mar 18 to use the extra 20% off code. Also don't know what the shipping fee would be to your location.

I do live my 'V'!!!

I've seen it as low as 169.00. Still debating getting one.

If you purchase please be very careful. I made the wrong 'sandwich' and it was too thick and got jammed in the machine. Ruined!

The gauge keys are meant to prevent that from happening.

Thanks for the warning. I'm still saving up. Maybe by the time I get enough together there will be another price break!<G>

After reading your post about gauge keys, I've done some research. I hadn't read about this handy tool before, but I'm glad to learn it has been invented. It would have saved me a lot of grief -as well as money! Thanks for the information. It is a lifesaver.
