Ina, that cactus was probably about six years old or so. I used to trim it but then got lazy and fell over before I got around to having someone trim it. Actually, it did fall on that dish but fortunately didn't cause any damage. That type of prickly pear, know as a fig prickly pear, grows pretty fast. During the summer we get some pretty strong winds during what has been labeled monsoon season. Apparently a weatherman who had been transferred to Arizona from the mid-west or someplace30 or 40 years ago was bored because of our weather and one day when it began raining he decided to call it a monsoon.
I like your Niagara photo. I remember going on the Maiden of the Mist (?) when I was about 14.
