This month we are featuring Albany Medical Center Pediatric Unit/ICU Pediatric. Fellow SCSer Sue (Coffeestamper) has a 9 year old son who just prior to Christmas was treated at Albany Medical Center. He had surgery to remove a brain tumor. It was such an intense, fearful, and difficult time for the Titolo family! Chris is so young! He came through with flying colors, is home now and doing well.
Sue and her family are so very appreciative of the staff at the Medical Center. The would love to show their appreciation to the staff for the wonderful care Chris recieved during this difficult time for their family. Here is a message I received in Sue's own words.
The nurses and staff made us feel comfort while going through all of this. We would love to give back to that staff and we had asked them what could we do for them. I told them that I make hand made cards and they said it would be great if I could donate birthday cards to the pediatric unit because there are alot of times when kids are being treated when their birthday comes around. A handmade card would cheer them up on a birthday away from home. The pediatric unit treats infants all the way up to 18 year olds.
Chris has to return to the center for follow up MRI's to make sure his tumor doesn't grow back. Chris would love to show up there with a stash of birthday cards for the children being treated now and in the future. In honor of Chris and the wonderful treatment he received, let's make this happen for this wonderful medical center!
A side note:
Chris is trying to reach 500 comments on his Caring Bridge site. He is up to 399 at this time! Help Chris meet his goal and go here to post a comment. Leave a word of encouragement! A little extra something for Chris!
Please include an envelope with each card for purposes of convenience. Since these cards will be given to children, infants to 18 year old, they should be blank inside.

Fellow SCSer's, thank you for spreading your SCS love! Please feel free to mail your cards all throughout the month of February!
Once you have mailed them come back to us here and let us know they have gone postal!
This is a wonderful cause Cindy! I have followed Chris's story on his caringbridge page and it's great that he is doing so much better! I hope we can send so many cards that Chris will need help carrying them!! I'll get on this over the weekend.

Thank you soo much Cindy for doing this. Chris and I will be going there every 3 months for Mri's to continue to check to make sure there is no sign of that tumor. It was a JPA tumor which was not cancerous thank god. He is continuing to get stronger and stronger each day, he goes for therapy at sunnyview hospital as outpatient~They are trying to get him back to school for a couple of hours at the end of feb. or beginning of march.
We want to thank the sc community for all the thoughts and prayers that have been sent our way and all of you that took time to leave Christopher a comment on his caring bridge web page. Also, thank you to all of you that sent our family cards through this difficult time in our lives. hugs~

Hi Beehappy......Welcome! Thanks for the kind words! There is not really a swap, but each month the destination for cards changes. The address where to mail your cards is always included in the month post. As you can see in the original post of this thread, there is instructions on where to send cards. It changes every month. You can send one card, 15 cards, or 50 cards, whatever your little heart desires! There is no minimum and no maximum.....Just read the challenge each month and participate where you can. All the cards are very much appreciated! hugs....

Sue - what an awesome cause! I live in the Capital District and know how fortunate we are to have a place like Albany Med close by - they do wonderful work. I'm glad to hear Chris is doing well. Your family will be in my prayers. I've sent cards for a cause before but have never posted until now - this one hits close to home for me (literally and figuratively!) and I can't wait to make some cards this weekend. All the best.
How great is this! What a fun cause - of course, I will be participating in this one!!!!!!

Thank you everyone for the kind words and for posting your kind hearted messages here. Sue, so glad that you have started to receive some cards.....I know Chris will be excited to make a trip with cards in hand at the end of the month. I am tickled for all of the activity on this thread. I also look forward to Chris' Teapot Challenge in a couple of weeks.
Do you want us to send only birthday cards or may we include some other "kid friendly" themed cards as well?
I think it would be great to have some other cards! They can start a little stash and who knows when something other than a birthday card might some in handy!! I think keeping it light hearted and happy, kid appropriate would be great!
Hi, I just finished 25 cards for my SIL in Afghanistan for his troops to have to send home. Now I have time to tackle this. Funny, the cards I made for him, will work great for this so while all those measurements are in my head and the stamps are still out, I can quickly make a bunch for this GREAT cause! Thanks to all of you for what you do! Rita
My ten cards are going postal in about 15 minutes. They look the same, but, honestly, it is another set of 8. Those football and baseball cards are made from playing cards so they go together very quickly and easily! TFL
