Today I'm going to show how you can create a cool "stained glass" look using just a few simple supplies. If you decide to give this technique a try (and I hope you will) please upload to the gallery here using keyword SNSTT6 so we can easily find it .
~stamps (preferably a line image/images since we'll be coloring) I used the Rose Collage set
~acetate/transparency sheets
~StazOn ink (black)
~Copic markers (any alcohol based or permanent markers will do)
Step #1
Stamp your image(s) in StazOn ink onto a piece of acetate.
What I use is called Copier Transparency Film by Innovera. It comes in a box of (100) 8.5" x 11" sheets, which is a lot for just one person, so if you just want a small amount you can purchase it in packs of (20) A2 size sheets on our website for just $.99.
Step #3
Trim off the excess acetate around your image leaving a about a 1/4" frame around the image. This will be necessary for attaching the frame you will make in the next step.
Step #4
Using nesting dies, create a frame that will fit nicely around your image. You can also use your paper trimmer to cut a straight-edged frame if you do not have dies.
Once the frame was attached, I flipped it over and colored in the areas on the acetate around the image that were see through (see 2nd picture under step #4) with a black Copic marker to make it more uniform as you can see here...
Step #6
Once your frame is attached, flip it over and add a second layer of foam tape...this will give your stained glass image more depth when you adhere it to your card.
Step #7
Complete a card or project using your stained glass image.
Here is the card I made using the Rose Collage image above. I added a bit of sparkle to the butterflies with Stickles and finished it off with a bow. I wanted the image to take center stage so I kept it very simple.
Here is another card I made using the same technique but with the Butterfly Flourish set. When I colored this image, I added a speckled background with my Copics to give it a different look. Again I kept the card fairly simple so the image takes center stage .

I do have a question. Directions say, "...since it's non-porous the ink just sits on top..." Does this mean the ink will smear? My guess is yes. If so, did you color without resting your hand on the acetate or did you just leave each bit dry before going in to color other areas?

The Stazon and Copic inks dry almost instantly so you shouldn't have any smearing .

I can't find the acetate I had stashed away somewhere and it would have worked perfectly for what I had in mind for today's sketch! I have GOT to get more organised.
