Here's the letter we send with all of the information.
Have you ever wanted to go somewhere really really bad but you just couldn't go? If you have then you have something in common with Stanley Lambchop, the main character in the children's book entitled "Flat Stanley
In the story Stanley was squashed by a bulletin board. Being flat, he was able to participate in many adventures. He was mailed in an envelope by his parents for a "dream vacation" to visit friends in California. He even placed himself on a famous painting in a museum to help catch some infamous art thieves.
We are sending you a Flat Jaydin to take care of for the week. Please take her with you when you go out and include her in your activities. She is bringing a journal, and she'd really appreciate your help in filling that out each day. When she comes home, we want to hear all about her adventures in your area! We're going to learn a lot about geography and history in our project. If possible, take pictures of Flat Jaydin with you when you are out and about - or even when you are at home. We want to hear all about life in your part of the world. We would love any information about your area that you can include - maps, post cards, special things that come from your area, and things like that. Flat Jaydin is bringing along a little spending money. Please, help her use it wisely.
After the week is over, send Flat Jaydin home and include her journal of the trip, pictures of Flat Jaydin's adventures with you (can be on CD or DVD if you wish), and any special items you want to include about your area or her trip.
Thank you so much for helping us with this project. We are so excited to learn all about the wonderful differences in our world.
