Derwent has pre-colored swatch sheets for its regular watercolor pencils and Inktense pencils. I've printed them but confess I have never referred back to them. With Copics, on the other hand, I constantly work off my swatch sheet when choosing a marker.
My DH does this with his oil paints. It really helps him a lot. I love his swatch idea. I thought of adopting it. I usually just look at all my coloring tools and say "I will use that one!" ROFL!
The other day I was making my own custom palettes on a scrap piece of paper so I could have an idea of what I wanted to color with. My DH saw me doing that. He said "That's a really good idea!" I do love the swatch idea but I don't think it would work for me. I would go back to looking at my physical pencils and paints.
