Default Gamsol/OMS

Can I buy OMS at Michaels or AC Moore? If so where? I only found turpenoid in Michaels.
Thanks in advance.

I think so, in the 'art' dept. with the oil paints, canvases, etc.

You can also use baby oil and Goo Gone. They smell a lot better than the Gamsol.

Pretty sure Michael's carries the Mona Lisa Brand of OMS. I know Joanne's does.

Thanks Randa, I was at a small Joanne's. Is it near the paints?

Hi PMR

I just bought a 4 L jug of Mona Lisa brand (OMS) a couple of weeks ago at Michael's. I'm in Canada but surely they stock similarly. I found it at floor level in the art supplies section. I also saw other much smaller volumes of a different brand at a hugely inflated price. The Mona Lisa works just fine. I'm just getting into using OMS but have two friends to share with. It really is odourless. (to me anyway) :-)

Yes, if they carry it, it will be with the Fine Arts Supplies. Usually on the bottom shelf. It will have a picture of Mona Lisa one the jug. It comes in a couple different sizes. Good luck.

I just ordered some more last night from Amazon. It comes in a little pack with some blending stumps, and sand paper pad for $11.96

Thank you, I was looking for something called odorless mineral spirits, the picture will help. I am off again on Thursday and will need to make a trip. The LSS sells a small bottle for a lot of $$.

I have a large jug of OMS from hardware store that I was hoping to use. Is there a problem with not buying from art supply store?

Supposedly the "fine art" OMS is more "refined" than the hardware one, but I haven't noticed ANY difference between them when I use them. I've also used baby oil and Goo Gone with good results. (The baby oil actually worked better with Crayola colored pencils than the OMS did, although the OMS worked better with my Prismacolors). I also use Swisspers cosmetic applicators because I think the paper stumps are a pain in the backside...

I use OMS that came from the Walmart paint section. Works for me.

Sue, thanks for the suggestion to use Swisspers. I will have to look for those as I also think the paper stumps are a pain.
