AUG11VSNI ~ Saturday, August 27 ~ 3:00pm EST ~ Dusty Trails
Title: Dusty Trails
Hostess: Jane (Plain Jane)
Keyword: AUG11VSNI
Day/Date: Saturday, August 27th
Time: 3:00pm EST
One thing is certain when you ride the trail with a herd of cattletheres gonna be some dust! Thats where the bandana comes in handy. There are a hundred and one uses for this dandy accessory, so whip out your trusty neckerchief to keep the cattle drive out of your nose and mosey on over to the roundup
My challenge has two parts
1. Make a card or other project that includes a paper-pieced image.
2. Include a bandana print somewhere on your project.
You can use purchased bandana paper or fabric, or you can make your own Faux Bandana paperlearn how here: TLC220 Bandanna Technique.
Quick tips for making bandana paper
1. Smaller floral and/or geometric patterns such as paisley work best.
2. Choose an ink color that is slightly darker than your paper color.
3. Stamp a random pattern with your chosen stamp(s), then outline and doodle around and in the images with a white gel pen or a black marker.
4. Red and navy blue are common, but I have seen bandanas in every color under the sunso use pink, purple, green, or whatever makes your spurs jingle!
1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 8:00 PM EST ON Monday, August 29th.
2. You have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword, AUG11VSNI, when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure your project is seen.
Here are some samples (one for the challenge and two for ways to use bandanas)...
You will probably send a posse after me - so much of my supplies are kind of packed away - but I really thought this looked like a bandanna print, though it is a non-traditional color. Does paper piecing a Sunbonnet Sue make up for that? LOL...
Thanks for the challenges!

Thanks for the challenges!
I am now at least 2 or 3 challenges behind, not to mention 2 that I didn't do yesterday. How is it that NO ONE ever calls or stops over. But, all I have to do is get involved in something I am enjoying or making progress on, and the phone rings off the hook, and the relatives come out of the woodwork visiting!
Oh, that is SO true...I think the phone rang more the last two days than in the last 2 weeks before this! And EVERYONE wants something the minute you sit down! I'm so glad you found time to play with us!
