According to a NPR article: In 1984 Ronald Reagan declared July National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday in July National Ice Cream Day. Americans eat more ice cream than anyone else in the world-on the average of 20 quarts a year! ( that may be old figures, could be more now!) President Reagan said it should be observed with "appropriate ceremonies, and activities." I think we should make sure we eat lots of ice cream this month, and scrapping ice cream would be an appropreate acitivity! Challenge: do a page inspried by ice cream. Either use photos with ice cream in them, or the colors of your favorite ice cream. Or use ice cream embellishments. Maybe just the name of your favorite ice cream inspires something. Like Rocky Road... Or just any other thing you could think of that would be inspired by ice cream. I can't wait to see what you do with this!
This challenge is open to all types of scrappers whether you are traditional, hybrid, or digi. Please use these keywords SIC103 when uploading your pages to the gallery. And if you want it in the July sb gallery, don't forget to use keywords sbc11jul. Here is the page I made for this challenge. You can see all the layouts submitted for this challenge by going here SIC103
This is my first time to post a challenge, so please bare with me. Wendy might have to fix a link or something for me if they don't work. ;)
This is a good subject. My DH has to have a bowl every night before bed and now he's converted DGS to doing the same. So I'll have to memorialize the "tradition". DGS gets very testy too if he doesn't have red cherries and whipped cream on his vanilla ice cream
Congrats Sharon! Great challenge your page looks great I love the colors you used.
Thank you! I have to tell you about a new stamp I found at at LSBS that is closing. 80% off everything. I tell you because of your siggy about shoes
"Just wanted to purse-nally wish "shoe" a Happy Birthday!!" Cute for $2.00.
Anyway, I like your siggy.

Well, I got a paper page done for your challenge, Sharon!! I enjoyed this and am going to dig around and see if I can find another photo about ice cream that I'd like to scrap!
Wendy, your Happy face is wonderful! I absolutely loved it! Was this a mixture of digi and traditional? Did you color the photo by hand or on a program on the computer?
Ice cream, ice cream, we all scream for ice cream! DH and I went out to Baskin Robbins for ice cream last night! yummy! Alas, didn't take any photos, though! :P

I used Photoshop Elements 9 to add the color to the black and white photo; the rest is all traditional, Sharon.
Patti, what a perfect page! So, unique how you cut out the the people out!
What fun to scrap all night and have ice cream floats! thanks for playing along on the challenge!

It is interesting, that you can touch up a photo like that. I really am behing all this digital technology. I loved your page. I thought that you usually do digital, don't you?

Well, I started out as a traditional scrapper and card maker, but have always dabbled in graphics stuff too. I own TONS of paper crafting supplies and tools, but have found it more convenient and comfortable to work with the computer for the last few years since I've had trouble with neuropathy in my hands. Plus, there's no clean-up with digi and I can change out papers and elements to suit my fancy without ever actually cutting anything up! But I DO like to traditional scrap too, so when it feels right to do a paper page, I do!
Wendy, is neuropathy like arthritus? It seems like the typing and use of the mouse would still bother you if it is. I know it does me with arthritus. I would love the no clean-up, and being able to change out papers and elements! I spend a lot of time looking thru drawers for just the right elements and paper to all match! LOL
I am glad you still like to do traditional. I think I like it, because I feel like I am in kindergarten again! Play, play.
