Splitcoaststampers.com - the world's #1 papercrafting community
You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
This event is in honor of Independence Day in the United States of America (July 4th). We would also like to celebrate Canada's Independence Day (July 1st)!
These challenges will start at our normal time, Sunday night at approximately 11:30 PM (EDT). Then, beginning at 9:00 AM, a day full of challenges will begin. They will finish at 6:00 PM.
There are no time limits to how long it takes to make a single card. However, you will want to make as many cards as possible during the 4 day time frame (July 4th ;) ). On July 8th, 2 random winners will be chosen from the cards submitted. The 2 winners will be CAS guest designers in August!
There are 22 challenges in all provided by our current and former design team members. Challenges can be combined within reason. For instance, there are 2 or 3 challenges with stars. Please remember to keep your cards clean & simple! ;)
All challenges will be posted in this thread. You may link all of your cards here. The most important part is using the keyword when you upload your card to the gallery.

What is CAS?
CAS is an acronym for Clean and Simple.
It's all about the design.
* not the technique
* not the tools
* not the embellishments
It's all about the design.
* uncluttered
* lots of white or open space
* one main focal point
It's all about the design.
Clean & Simple

We celebrate Independence Day (in the U.S.A.) today because this is the date of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. But this event was neither the beginning of the struggle for independence, nor even of the Revolutionary War. More than two years before, the colonists protested the control of the monarchy over their affairs without any representation from the colonies by a protest over the latest tax on tea. When the governor of Massachusetts refused to return a shipment of tea to England, Patriots destroyed the tea by dumping it in the harbor. We now call this event the Boston Tea Party.
Your challenge is to make a TEA themed card.

Challenge #17 Time: 4:00 PM Hostess: LateBlossom (Susan) Keyword: CASholidayJULY2011Q Challenge: Inspiration Challenge: Lyrics to America the Beautiful.
This song has TONS of imagery that might spark creativity no matter what country a person is from.
America the Beautiful
Words by Katharine Lee Bates,
Melody by Samuel Ward
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!
O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for halcyon skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the enameled plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
And music-hearted sea!
O beautiful for pilgrims feet,
Whose stem impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till paths be wrought through
wilds of thought
By pilgrim foot and knee!
O beautiful for glory-tale
Of liberating strife
When once and twice,
for man's avail
Men lavished precious life!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till selfish gain no longer stain
The banner of the free!
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!
