A Letter Unanswered
By Danny Barbare.

Wrote a letter
To a friend,
But all I know
Is dark silence
Of a cold winter,
Where my words
Hang like stars,
Forever waiting.

Letter to Santa Claus
By Ernest Holbrook

Dear Santa Claus,
You'll want to know
How I've been since a year ago.
My folks say I've been fairly good,
I've done a lot of things I should
And maybe some I shouldn't do.
But tell me, Santa, haven't you?
Now I've run errands, done some chores,
And tried my best to not slam doors.

This year I haven't picked a fight;
I've kept in mind to be polite.
So if you want to ask my Dad
I'm sure he'd say I've not been bad
And I have other proof, you see,
My Mom is writing this for me!

A Lovely Time
By Sara E. Baldwin.

A lovely time is Christmas, such beautiful things to see,
The scintillating tinsel, the all resplendent tree,
The snapping, fluffy popcorn, the happy eyes alight,
The carolers whose voices sing to the crisp and starlit night.

A lovely time is Christmas, a time to give and share,
A time when we remember, a time we show we care.
For those who seem forgotten, with cards and gifts of love;
A lovely time, the birthday of the Heavenly one above.

In a Box of Old Christmas Cards
By Nancy G. Westerfield

There is a drift of glitter
At the bottom of the box, where snow
Has settled from the winter scenes
That decked the greetings; and a sifting
Of old names has drifted to the bottom
Of the box: old friends, some lost
By moving away, and some forever
Lost. There is a gift of glitter
In the love still left there
Settled at the bottom of the box
In Christmas letters, signatures,
Remembrances, cliches of Christmas
Verses sent and saved for the secret
Passages that only the heart unlocks.
