TLC53 - Tri Fold Fun
This week we are making Tri-Fold Cards! You may have seen this card last year....I thought it was simply darling, and have always wanted to try one. I was in a swap for "Fancy Folds" and finally tried it!
Here is the inspriation card closed:

Ok, Ms. Stalkers (and you know who you are! ) get stamping!
I have 20 minutes to get DS in the shower before the bus comes! EEK!
As always, if you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share!
When you upload, please put TLC53 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!

Stalker... who, ME!??
Thanks, Beth. This looks like an awesome challenge. I've never done one of these before. I gotta hit the treadmill before I can start... well, actually, I need to walk on it! So, while my laundry is washing & my supper is cooking in the slow cooker (hee hee)... gotta go walk for at least 1/2 hr., but I'll be back.

I've been wanting to try this out for quite a while now! Thanks for the challenge Beth! Rox, Jen stole my challenge last week too. Why not just do a square card again only with a different layout...just a thought!

Sorry, Rox! It is really more of a sketch challenge, but hey, fancy folds can be called a technique too!
Have fun, girlies! I have a TON of errands to run, but I'll be checking in later.

I admit it, I was one of the stalkers! Then I made the mistake of sitting down to try to watch something on TV-that sent me off to dreamland for a while. Now I have a project to work on! Thanks for the great idea, Beth!

Beth, I am a bit confused, I tried cutting out a sample card, to get the feel, the sample card that you showed does not have the edges lined up, it is offset, but on your card the edges meet, did you trim your card more then what she showed in the directions? Just trying to figure this out, so I can stamp it. I am suppose to have already been to the grocery store and back..but geez..how can I go when there is stamping to be done??
Thanks!

I think that Beth is out running errands but think she trimmed hers as I trimmed mine to get mine to work on the double matting.

The directions are a basic guideline, I think. I wanted to mat mine, so I did my first fold at 4" instead of 4-1/4", but then when I went to mount it on the back piece, I realized that I needed to trim the length as well. I only cut off 1/8", because I was already chopping off part of the picture.
I'm thinking if you want to mat it on a single mat, those first 2 marks need to be at 5-1/4" & 3-1/4". For a double mat, go 5" & 3-1/2". Hope that makes sense & makes it easier for y'all.

Tri Fold Fun
I love this challenge. It has forced me to make these tri-fold cards. It was so much fun I am going to make some more.
I shamelessly CASE'd the idea of using Fresh Fruits apple stamp to make a clover from Teresa Bolin. Found her card on the SU Stampers Showcase. It's an adorable card. Figured I could use that idea to make a tri fold St. Patrick's Day card. The colors didn't scan well as usual, but it is bright & cheery in person. Hope you like it.

Lisa, I did have to trim both the left edge of the top "flap" as well as the bottom edge to get it to fit with the double mat.
What I did was just cut the paper in two pieces (one edge was 5 1/2" and the other was 3" ). Then, with the long edge of the triangle on the bottom and the 5 1/2" side of the triangle on my right, I scored at 4 1/4" from the right edge to make the "middle" part. Then I marked where the top flappy should be folded back so that the fold would be flush with the right side. After the top flap was folded over to the left, I had to cut off about an 1/8" of the top flap so that it was flush with the left side.
Then because I decided I wanted to do the double mat, I had to cut off a little on the bottom.
Clear as MUD?? I hope it helps a little.
here's a picture of the template from Linda D's gallery. Maybe that will help!

Pinky,
When you cut your cs, you are cutting a diagonal line from one end of the cs to the other (the cut is the length of the cs, not the width). You will end up with 2 identical pieces of card stock after you make the cut. If you don't mat the card, the back edge of the card will be on a diagonal, rather than straight across. I did a single mat on mine, so I did my first fold at 4" instead of 4-1/4", but then when I went to mount it on the back piece, I realized that I needed to trim the length as well. I only cut off 1/8", because I was already chopping off part of the picture.
I'm thinking if you want to mat it on a single mat, those first 2 pencil marks need to be at 5-1/4" & 3-1/4". For a double mat, go 5" & 3-1/2". Hope that makes sense & makes it easier for y'all.
