Another PA stamp store closing...
Just got my flyer that Rubberbuggy in Strasburg is closing. Can't say that I'm surprised, as the last time I was in, inventory was kind of stagnant, and I'd heard that business was down.
I've never gone to any of the Amish stamp places out that way, but I've heard that they exist, I just don't know where they are. I hope Stamp-ede out in York is doing OK, because that's all that's left, other than White Swan in DE, and I hear they're having a hard time of it too.

I live in DE, but haven't heard of White Swan. Are they in the Wilmington area? And do you have a web site for them?

Oh man - I was just there in March and thouht the same thing about their inventory.... but it IS getting harder to find good stamp stores anywhere! Guess everyone is on the web shopping now... cheaper to surf than to drive all over!

I got my flyer last week & wasn't surprised. I am really bummed for Kris, she has put her heart/soul into the business. I will miss shopping there, seeing Kris & Evie (her niece) & hanging out for the monthly stamp nights. :-(
It really sucks :-(

Not to hijack, but I wanted to answer this because I at White Swan last year and it is nice little store. It's in New Castle, BTW.

I love White Swan, but I don't manage to get there more than once or twice a year. My GF lives right in the historic area there, nice place to spend an afternoon!

We were hoping to take a day trip to Lancaster one of these weekends (when the heat breaks) and that was one of the stops I wanted to make. I haven't been there yet. bummer! Do you know when they're closing?

I received my email last Friday from them. I stopped in at Stampede to pick up my EZMount and was talking to the owner about Rubber Buggy closing. I think the web is hurting Stampede as well. I refuse to order from web stores that sell the same items as Stampede. And if they don't carry it, you can ask them to special order. They will try to get whatever you need. They even advertise in the newsletter that they will ship it to you. I love Stampede and hope they are able to stay in business.
Anyone living in or near the York, PA area or if you are visiting; please stop in the Stampede and check out the inventory. They have a ton of stamps and other cool stuff. When I was there on Friday; a woman walked in and just stood there and said "WOW!". I asked her if it was her first time and she said "yes". They were vistiting the area for the street rod show. You can spend hours in that store just browsing.

I have an excel spreadsheet of the Amish stores in Lancaster County, PA. I got it from Cindy. It is an awesome reference! Most of the spreadsheet is scanned business cards so you do have to do a little bit of the research for directions and so on. If anyone is interested please let me know! I'd be happy to PM it. YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL IN YOUR PM. I know this topic comes up a lot for PA stampers (lack of stamp shops) but it does seem like there are a good number of high quality stores still left. Although, I will greatly miss Rubber Buggy closing because Kris was such a kind person!

I am very sorry to hear that a stamp shop is closing. This does not personally affect me because I live in a different country but I do think it is important to support your local craft/stamp shops. I know many of us have access to buying stuff over the web now, but lets be honest, nothing beats having a good browse around a stamp shop, getting your hands on the stuff, and mooching though all the embellishments. We used to have a good shop about an hour from us and it was always a treat to go up there, you just never knew what you would find. Now I have moved to France and I really miss having a stamp shop. I have not found a single one so far. I know of some scrapbooking shops but even they are well out of my area. Make the most of them whilst you still have them!!!!

I would love a copy of Amish stamp stores in PA as well. The only one that I know of is the one in Ephrata. Her store is great and just got some Nesties in, but I would love to visit others as well and see what they have.

Hi Brandi, I live in Oil City, PA but am originally from San Diego, CA. I can't stand the lack of stamp shops here, since I was used to having so many around when I lived in Cali. Could you send me that list you have? I'd greatly appreciate it...thanks!

Goodness, I grew up in Lancaster, lived in Bird-in-Hand a while and used to work near Strasburg!
Small world, and sad the store is closing.
We have no nice stores nearby - I travel almost 2 hours into Canada to shop at Scrapbooker's Paradise in Lethbridge.
Mikes and JoAnne's is 112 miles away anyway, I might was well really enjoy my shopping in Canada!

I do have a high school friend who lives in Lititz....
Oh, how I miss the farmer's markets and fresh fruit and veggies. I keep telling myself I miss the buggies, but I don't think I really do!
Don't ask why, but I'm shocked the Amish have stamping stores. Not sure why, since they have fabric stores and other businesses.
BTW, I'm a grad of Conestoga Valley High School

I love the buggies :-) Especially the one that visits my neighborhood selling fresh produce RIGHT TO MY DOOR! Woo hoo!!!
A lot of Amish ladies are involved with stamping. The daughter in the family I buy produce from is an avid stamper. I've never visited any of the Amish owned stamp stores though.

So sorry everyone, I haven't been checking on threads lately. If you want the file and haven't PM'd me yet, please do. You need to include your email so I can email it to you. It's a lot of work to click on each name that requested the file and PM them for their email address and then actually email the file to them. So if you would like the file please be kind enough to send a PM with your email address and I'll get it to you.
The shops Jen mentioned are in the file and from what I've heard are great! I don't know why so many LSS in the area have closed. Maybe it is the lure of shopping on the web, but I completely agree that we need to support these shops as much as possible. Actually connecting with other stampers goes a lot farther than just browsing a website.

I was also sad to learn of the store's closing. I stopped in any time my husband and I visited the Lancaster area. The store owner was EXTREMELY kind and helpful. I always found great stuff.
