Spellbinders Foliage
I was just wondering what everyone else thought of the Spellbinders Foliage dies. I was sooo excited when I saw them being released, and I thought they would be the absolute perfect thing for the card makers.... Imagine being able to layer all types of foliage with your blossoms. I was so disappointed when I actually got them and saw how humongous they are! The largest one is 4" long... put two in opposing directions and it's WAY bigger than the card, let alone try and place an image or anything else on the card.
Approximate Die Template Sizes:
1: ⅝ x 1⅜″
2: x 1″
3: 1⅛ x 1″
4: 1 x 1⅞″
5: 2 x 2″
6: 2 x 4″
What does everyone else think?

I have this set but haven't used it yet. Couldn't you just prune the larger ones to fit? That's what I'll be doing. I can see where the largest leaf can be successfully snipped. HTH.

This set is on my wishlist and I'm sure I'll just trim them to fit where I need them.

They are nice size to fit in with their new flower creation dies. I just uploaded a card made with one of these leaf shapes (bottom left) and it was the perfect fit. The fern on would have also fit my card, and I wouldn't be adverse to trimming it if need be. I like them and will be using them a lot.

Cheery Lynn just came out with a new die with smaller folliage. I am guessing Spellbinders made it like this so scrapbookers as well as cardmakers could use this set.

Hey, I just wanted to pop in and share a card that is in the gallery. I used Foliage on it. I used the largest die in the set, twice. This is a standard A2 card. I hope that it helps you visualize the set better!

The Foliage set was designed with both card makers and scrapbookers in mind. Even the largest of the leaves will fit on an A2 card and look great when shown with one of the flower shaped Nestabilities. If you are using smaller flowers, there are leaves in the set that will match those also. It's really pretty versatile.

I just ordered this set after seeing what Sherry Cheever does with these die templates! ( Blogs at Splitcoaststampers) Her work is so pretty and is mostly 5x5 or smaller in size.
I also can see cutting the leaves apart to use with smaller flowers. As soon as I get them and make something, I'll try to post here for you gals.

Spellbinders Foliage
Over on my blog today I have a little notebook that I made using the Spellbinders Foliage die templates, I found that you can add dimension by tweaking the leaves and they can be cut down easily too, extremely versatile. My blog is called Hope-Chances. Apologies I cannot add a link as I'm new to Splitcoast and I need to post at least three times before I can add links :-)
Happy creating.

I actually just had a publication in Scrapbooking & Beyond Summer 2011 that will be out in stores May 31st using this amazing foilage set from Spellbinders. They are designed to be used in both card creating and scrapbooking, if you think they are too large for a card you have several pieces to choose from and they are all amazing especially the embossing details. Sand them using Core'dinations paper and ink them and see all the amazing detail.....love them!

I haven't used the biggest one yet, but I've used some of the others. In fact, I think two of them are better for using with roses than the ones that come in the Rose Creations set.
You can see one of them here - MMTPT143 For the Birds by Cook22 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers.
The very largest one is the only one I don't see getting a lot of use from - I think it was a set well worth getting.

I LOVE this set and often trim them down to fit my card needs! I used the entire large fern on an A2-sized sympathy card (see my gallery post today...I'm at work and don't have the ability to give you the thumbnail right now).

You guys are all CAS card makers though.. I find there are very few people here who love their layers...I rarely do CAS... I'm a thirty layers and a dozen flowers with a coloured stamped image kinda gall... I love my MS twig punch... but I wanted more variety. I'll have to return my set. I'll have to check all the other die makers for leaves.. I think there are some European companies that cater more to card makers. I'm glad I didn't buy the flowers either, I presume they would have been too large as well. Besides there are so many gorgeous ready mades that I can't buy flower making paper in every colour separately.
