That is like the one I have only mine is blue and it's called an JVCC ATG1, I have seen this one in the art supply store here and was told they come in blue and red just depending where you buy them from but it's prety much the same thing as an ATG. I got mine at findtape.com I also paid $20 less than the price they are quoting there, I got my gun, 12 rolls of tape and with shipping was $60
Sorry! I have the 714 ATG and the refills are 36 yards! I paid 37 for mine and the refills are about 2.75. Saves me so much money on adhesive and I love the way the ATG works.
The trick question to this tape gun is that this company is comparing their gun to everything BUT the ATG Gun...so that makes me wonder if its equal to the ATG gun. The price is more & I wonder if the tape is as good as 3M's. Good points to look into. I just got the ATG gun in the mail the other day. but can't use it yet til after Christmas because it's part of my gifts for Christmas & hubby won't let me use it...it's already wrapped. :o( :(
A newsletter I got from scrapbooking.ca says this "The New ATS gun, replacing the ATG 700 coming in at a great price of just $43.95 awesome awesome awesome adhesive fast and excellent!!!"
So, I thought it might be the same company. It doesn't look like scrapbooking.ca has them up for sale yet. It's a canadian company.
I don't see where it's competitive with the the ATG at all. 108 feet? for almost $9? My ATG has a 60 yard roll in it right now, that I think I paid $5 something for. Where's the competition?
When I looked at the picture of it, it also doesn't seem that much smaller, but I guess that's probably hard to tell without them being side by side. Doesn't seem to be an improvement.
It's also NOT made by the same company as the ATG gun. If I were buying a glue gun, I would rather go with the sure thing that everyone knows & luvs. Only my opinion!
The gun in question on this thread is the one I have and I love it ... the link given was to an Australian company that sells this gun ... this would account for the price difference to the ATG ... anything like this purchased in Australia is going to be dearer than you guys can get it in the US! At this stage to my knowledge this is the only type of gun (ATS) sold in Australia ... so when it came on sale I had to order it ... I don't know if there is much difference between it and the ATG as I have never seeing the ATG to do a comparison ... chatting to friends in the US the tape is the same length. The refills are actually a lot cheaper than started on that page ... I know cause I have purchased several of them ... I think they are $3.95 AUD .... which after conversions of currency etc works pretty close to the cost of the ATG tape (remembering Aussies would have to get stuff sent to them and pay postage)
All prices on that site were Australian not US ... so it is hard for you to make proper comparisons.
Well, since Frances has cleared up the price question, I would say that the two dispensers look about the same, lol! While there might be a cosmetic difference here or there, I'm sure the mechanism is the same to dispense the adhesive. And if you can get the longer tape rolls, then it's definitely a winner!
Hello all,
The dispenser that everyone is referring to is just an imported generic Adhesive transfer Tape dispenser that is offered by many distributors. I am a tape distributor and I get solicitations constantly from importers offering me these dispensers to sell. It has many more metal parts than the 3M versions and works on the same principle. It uses 1" core tape in both 1/2" and 3/4" widths just like a 3M ATG 700 dispenser but unlike the 3M ATG 700 there is no 1/4" adapter available that I know of. It is a perfectly fine dispenser but the cheapest price I have seen it for in the US is $39.00. And as you all have discussed here in the forums, the 3M ATG dispensers are available for less than that. Just like anything else in this world there are generic tape dispensers as well as generic tapes. There is a perfectly fine generic line of adhesive transfer tapes from overseas available if you are looking for inexpensive alternatives to the 3M products. It stands to reason that you do not have to buy the most expensive brands or best quality if a lesser cost/ quality product exists. When it comes to Adhesive Transfer Tape and Dispensers, I choose to sell the 3M products. They are not always the cheapest but they usually have a product available to fulfill most needs. 3M is also available to help you if you do ever have a problem with one of their products or need a recommendation to match your needs.

As I said in an earlier post I own the tape gun in question ... to my knowledge it is the only one avail in Australia .... I am using 1/4" tape no problem ... not sure I have the adaptor ... this was how I got it.
I use the 1/2" Scapa tape found on www.findtape.com. It's $2.64 for 36 yards for the non acid free. Ironically the acid free is cheaper at only $2.07 a roll. lol
The acid free also comes in a 60 yard doll for #3.73.
The next time I order I'm going to try the 60 yard roll to see if it will work.
I also asked them and they said the 3M tape will work so I want to find some of the 3M repositionable and see if that will work as well as some 1/4".
I don't think it is. As a matter of fact- I had always recommended the 1/4" tape for people getting the 3M thinking for some reason thats what I had till I realized I was in fact using the 1/2" tape.
I absolutley love it.
Because any adhesive the you get outside of your intended area simply can be removed by rubbing it with your finger I haven't had any issue at all with the thicker tape.

Hi Stampowl,
I have an ATS-50 gun, could never use it, due to the tape run off the side. Perhaps I load it wrong, is there a video how to load this thing?
Thanks,
Jogry/bali
I have the ATG 714 (red, uses 1/4" tape)... LOVE the gun, but have had some problems with the tape "walking off" (a batch of ATG's were a faulty bunch). 3M is working with me on this problem and I will let you know how things progress. 3M is generally stands behind their product -- you should probably go to the manufacturer with your complaints and see if they are responsive.
ya know- I have this atc bought from blue bazaar as I am in OZ!
It works fine but only takes 1/2" tape and there is no adapter.
I make mostly atc's and find the 1/2 " size to be fine-all the cheap rolls of tape that have 36 yards or whatever are fine and I can also get them from blue bazaar.I do not bother with the more expensive "gold "tape because archival quality is not improtant to me and this cheaper stuff sticks REALLY well.
I use an adhesive remover square[looks like a piece of knobbly rubber stuff like the sole fo a mens shoe] to remove any stray bits and it works a treat.
I have just ordered the pink ATG also as I can then have the 1/4 inch size for my inchies!!
I recently found a youtube video[sorry cant find the link] where the poster compared this orange ATS and the red atg and they are virtually the same size and work the same ,same weight ,same to use only slightly different shape and colour.
I say decide whether you want the 1/4 or 1/2 inch tape and then get the one that gives you the best deal-red ,yellow, orange, blue or pink!!!!
It is certainly cheaper for US people to order from US and not from OZ-having said that Luise at blue bazaar runs an awesome store!!!
thanks so much for the response! now i know i cannot use the 1/4" tape and will order the 1/2" for it. i hated to toss the ats gun but was soooooo frustrated cuz every time i loaded the tape on it, it would not wind right. maybe i got a bad batch of tape with it and will order some and give it another go.
I had a bad tape that came with my gun which had the adhesive on the wrong side so I could not load it properly. It is VERY important to press the roll well down onto the spindle and make sure the take up spindle for the used tape has the tape seated prorpely too. Somtimes before I use my gun I just make sure the spools ore pressed on well. There is a bit of a learning curve but now I love my gun.
Its worth persevering with the bulk of it because it really does stick better than anything else-have fun!

Hi, No, I never got an answer. Just recently I looked at a video on Youtube how to load it was very clear, but I still have the problem that the tape comes of on the side.

When you load the tape, you need to make sure you get the roll down into the tabs. You should see a tab fit into the open area in the white spool area. Mine kind of makes a snap sound. If you don't get it down in there right, it will come off the roller.

Thanks for your reply.
I have no trouble in loading my ATS correctly, but I think I have a damaged tape.
When I start using my gun first it is ok, but than the glue will come off in a lint. Not on my paper. I do not know what to do, than getting another tape, but will this be the same? Living in Bali, does not help to pay for the shipping.
Hugs,
