Heart TLC312 ~ Shadow Box Card~ 02/14/11

Hello everyone...hope you had a great weekend!!! Are you ready for a super fun and easy technique?? ( hummmm...I think I say that every week..LOL!!)
Sue (bensarmom) sent me a PM suggesting this super fun challenge...a Shadow Box card!!! Here is the link to the video on Karen's blog Stamping Videos.
You really need to watch the video to get the folds just right...I thought this was going to be difficult but I was shocked at how easy it was!!!
Supplies includes an 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of two sided designer paper, a strip of designer paper for the belly band, a bone folder, and what ever decorations you want on the front and the inside. Now, go to the video for the directions!!
You might want to use a piece of computer paper for the first one so you don't mess up a piece of dp...I used a piece of dp that was too heavy and the folds didn't work.

Here are Sue's samples:

Card Box Outside

Card Box Inside

Here are my samples:

Valentine Shadow Box Outside

Valentine Shadow Box inside

Please remember when uploading to include the KEYWORD TLC312 (no spaces).

You can view the entire TLC312 Gallery here!!

Have fun and I can't wait to see what you create!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

Thanks for the tip on using trial paper first .
Got to get the housework done but I hope to find time to give this a try.

I remember finding instructions for this card way back when I first started stamping. I think it was called Jane's Box card. I lost the instructions (or we would already have it in the resource section *smile*) and can't wait to try it out again.
Thanks for a great challenge!
Hugs and smiles

I am so sorry!!! If you go to Stampingvideos.com, it will take you to her blog and on the right side you will see a link to all her videos. Select the Pull out Shadow Box video...third one down. Hope you can find it this way!!!

Wow you are right I was thinking there's no way and I followed right along with her and it was very easy to do. I may have a new card for Christmas this year already.

A challenging challenge, Joan.......but fun, and not so hard after working out the "kinks" (my own kinks : ) ) with printer paper. I'm sure I will use this technique again. Makes an impressive presentation. Thanks to you....and Karen.

Okay, I had to make two because I had trouble with my paper not tearing. I would like to try again with some different paper that is prettier. Very fun challenge. Here's mine TLC312 Happy Easter inside by yo sam - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Joan, I had seen this video awhile back and thought that I wanted to try it sometime. I even bookmarked it. Thanks for pushing me to try it today. I had made a quilt card using Jenna's quilt tutorial and was wondering what I was going to do for an envelope. Then when I made my shadow box, I found out that the quilt card fit perfectly inside. It made me all happy and smiley inside.

Box of Owls Open and Closed.
I had fun with this, but standard European printer paper wasn't the right size for a trial run. We make a lot of origami boxes in this house which helps - DH wants to give this technique a go.
